Delta's cleaned up.
To be expected for sure but...
Is Australian music in really sucj a bad shape.
Miss Goodrem is a very brave young girl but her music puts me to sleep.
Then again, awards ceremonies always reward mediocrity.

And how.
That Amiel chick deserves an award for Most Dreary Performance .Crap song & performance.
She wouldn't have got past the auditions for Australian Idol.
Nice to see they got another chick to perform Delta's song.

Fair enough, give Delta a couple of sympathy ARIAS, but so far she's got about 6. Ridiculous.
That bloke Audious (or however you spell it) who she invited up on stage, is from Freo, and has a reputation for ripping off people's music, then flogging it to Sony. He wrote (I use that word very loosely) some of Selwin's crap, and apparently has now managed to weasel his way into Delta's camp.
Adam Spencer... what a d|ck.
Normally he is frightfully ugly and equally unfunny - but tonight's ridiculous political statement regarding Aboriginal land rights was so misguided and inappropriate it was almost laughable with the audience clearly not knowing how to respond.
Then after snatching the moral high-ground he turns around and spits it back in our faces by making a tasteless and unfunny gag. Just as Will Anderson was saying "And the ARIA goes to:" he screamed out "SLIM DUSTY" with the predictable pause... the fact that there was a video tribute to Slim later on made it all the more pathetic.
Adam Spencer... tool of the week.
Totally agree about Spencer.
No one could tell if he was joking about the landrights, but his Slim bit was just bloody stupid.
How much i would have paid to be delta's dress tonight....;)

If any of Deltas songs had some originality or at least sounded different from one another then id congratulate her more, but all 4 of her singles you cant tell apart. They all sound exactly the same. A bit of diversity wouldnt go astray.

Agreed!
The Aria's like all other awards show suck. It's just a bunch of ****ers to get together, get drunk and seeing how far they can kiss up each others arses.
No one's mentioned Rove's hosting.Only Adam Spencer got less laughs.
I suppose he'll always be host when it's his company producing it.

Great to see that John Farnham was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Congratulations to ch10 morning news. The Hun & Aged didn't use it as the headline, but ch10 used 'Delta-Force' at the start of the news. :o

Agree with most things you said except I dont think Australian music is in such a bad state. I think it's just the commercial radio stations who refuse to play any aussie music unless it fits the top 40 image are at fault for that. How many years did it take powderfinger to actually get commercial airplay. Congrats to them mind you. They have had to work so hard for so long to get where they are, something Delta wouldn't know about. She's pretty much had it handed to her on a plate. How else do you get so big by the age of 18.

As opposed to the 'noise' you listen to.
Im a rock fan so delta doesnt appeal to me..well not her music anyway. But i give her credit for the fact she writes most of her songs..she has a very nice voice...Manafactured aussie artists like Valance, minogue, Imbruglia cant sing to save themselves. She also plays an instrument.
On top of that she carries herself with a lot of class and seems a very down to earth young woman.
I think no matter of her state of health she would have cleaned up last night anyway. Good luck to her....couldnt have happened to a nicer person.
Totally agree with you Marcuz, I am sick of all these soapie stars with no talent, trying to be singers, Delta was a singer & musician before the soapies, not the other way around.
Her music isn't my cup of tea, but she has got a great voice, can play an instrument & write music, wish her nothing but the best.
I also think she is a very down to earth person, just compare the difference between an interview with her & Holly, pick the fake, no talent, just cashing in on my looks person.

She's a poor man's Celine Dion. Best of luck to her though.

Ah yes, what ever happened to Natalie Imbruglia ?
She now only known for her bonks, not her music & acting career.

Exactly. Delta could put out the most awful song possible and it would still make no.1.

What a load of crap
Delta's got a heap of talent. She deserves everything she gets and more
Go Delta
It's funny how when people question Delta's talent one of the defence tactics is "She plays the piano."
Oh my god, someone actually plays the piano! Good grief! I teach people how to play the piano, when are they going to get an ARIA?

While the ARIAs are entirely market driven, it doesn't mean you have no talent if you win one. It just means you have a good agent, are Australian and play mainstream crud.
Talent is an independent issue. Delta does have some.

I agree completely. Just making the point that playing the piano is not the outrageous feat of thaumaturgy that some are making it out to be!

You are spot on. It reminds me of a letter to the editor I read in Herald Sun's Hit magazine a while back where a young Avril Lavigne fan was rebutting some Avril criticism by saying how talented she is, and her main triumphant argument was "and she actually has the ability to sing live!" This is what the cretins who run the music industry have reduced us to, we live in an age where people think it's a noteworthy achievement for a professional singer to actually have the ability to sing! In regards to Delta then, I have to agree with most of the previous posts in that it is somewhat of an anomaly for a charting female "artist" to possess even a shred of actual musical ability. So good on her. I guess?? Maybe not, I don't know how much respect I can really pay her considering how god-awful her music is.
