Broken finger in trial game yesterday. Very similar injury to Damien Martyn according to Hookesy although he says he'll only be out for 3 weeks. White to become the first 20yo captain in Pura Cup/Sheffield Shield cricket

I would love to see young Crosthwaite given a go but it looks like its going to be Roach.

Has to be Roach.
We need all the batting strength we can get, and he arguably is good enough to get in as a pure batsman.

By playing Roach it means that we can drop one of the 'so called' allrounders for another specialist bowler.
Roach is going to play in both the ING and Pura games.
Its undecided yet if White will be captain in the Pura game,but he will most likely get the gig.

Hooksey said Roach will play. I think Rach scored 100+ runs in one innings where Roach and Berry boh played and berry was the W/K

Given Berry's age, and our lack of batting strength, i'm rather surprised to learn that Peter Roach isn't a contracted player.
I know young Crosthwaite is going to be special, but if Roach isn't in the best 25 Victorian cricketers, then i know nothing about the game.
