Definately Peter Matera, but closely followed by Fellow Norm Smith Medallist Dean Kemp and 4 time club champion Glen Jakovich.

I don't know about Roo being best ever, he is spectacular and should have won 1-2 brownlows, if only it wasn't for those damn vic biased umpires.

But Jakovich would have to be the best eagle ever. I don't think a player ever dominated CHB as much as he did in the early 90's. Carey is considered the greatest(or one of the greatest) players ever, yet Jakovich beat him most times. In an era when Carey dominated the AFL and took teams apart with ease, Jakovich wore him like a glove. Jakovich made Carey look just like a regular player. And 4 club B&F shows his importance to the team.

Only reason Roo is held in higher regard than Jako is because he was dynamic and spectacular. Jakovich was just plain dominant.

The main reason I said Roo is because he is still tearing the opposition apart in games, where as Jako is now, and has for a couple of years, not had that much influence on many games, some which he has done really well. But Roo, apart from his injury riddled last year, has continued on his great game, won a Norm Smith, Should have got a Brownlow, Won a club best and fairest and still is going strong.
