... a freak incident has delayed the start of the third day's play.

As the pitch was being rolled this morning, a player's practice ball was hit right under the roller and left a deep indentation in the pitch at the City end, in a position which would be just short of a fast bowler's length to a left-hander.

You'd think the guy on the roller would have felt the ball... perhaps only when it was too late.

apparently the driver of the Roller couldn't stop in time :D

maybe they need to turn the Speed cameras on BEFORE the game starts ;)

I remember reading a story once about a groundsman somewhere (might have been in the Carribean) who used to roll the pitch late at night and while he was getting his stuff ready would leave his bottle of rum perched on top of the roller.

One night he forgot to take it off before starting the roller, and the players the next morning found a lot of large shards of glass firmly rolled into the middle of the pitch!
