West Coast
Daniel Hunt – Sydney Swans
Mitchell Morton – Claremont
Clancy Rudeforth – Claremont
Do we know anything about the above players hoping to gain a rookie spot with us?
Does any one know if they are any good...
Cheers Denis
Carly said on the main board that Michael Morton is her cousin and is about 15 years old. I guess that means we won't be picking him up, at least not this year. BTW, I didn't even know we had started training? When did we start?

We know Rudeforth has been on our rookie list for 2 years now. He is a former WA under-18's captain (2001 I think) midfielder who apparently has great endurance. Would have been drafted at the National draft, but he sent letters to vic clubs stating he does not wish to play for them and would return to WA as soon as he could. Was lucky the AFL didn't ban him from the draft altogether. Very arrogant thing to do, and must of got the shock of his life when he wasn't picked up. Eagles got him onto their rookie list, but from what people have been posting he hasn't really progressed much in last couple of years.

Did not know that - that's shocking.

Footygoss had this to say:
Hunt, a former South Fremantle player, was recently delisted by the Sydney Swans. Did not make a senior appearance for the Swans. He suffered from shin and hamstring injuries this year.
Morton is the son of Noel Morton, a former Claremont player.
Morton was in this years Under 16 squad and prior to that played for Wembley Downs. His father Noel played on a back flank for WA in the 1987 State of Origin game against SA.

Maybe this Morton kid is a good prospect for the future ?
I recall Benny Cousins trained with the team around the age of 15/16 too.
Before he was picked up father/son.
Is Morton able to be picked up by the Eagles via Father/Son ?

Not sure how many games his father played.
Mitchell Morton is my cousin. His Dad is Noel and he played for Claremont. Mitch is a legend and you will all love him when he eventually plays for the Eagles :D:D:D

He is also a AFL scolarship holder. He grew up in Lake Grace/Newdegate!

As far as I know the Eagles are interested in him and just want to see what he's like with training and all that.
Pre season starts on Tues or Wed I think.

If he was good enough he would have been drafted despite the letter which the Eagles knew about before he sent it and did nothing to discourage him from doing so.
He might have good endurance but he's too slow.

On the official site, somewhere it said he had one of the top 3 fastest times in a run... dunno how far it was though:confused:
Lucky you Carlyp... my cousins are either annoying, or Kiwis that played Rugby in Europe:rolleyes:
