Just watched the replay up to half way in the 3rd qtr.
Peneny was very good contested the centre bounces and then went to CHB on Tredrea , played in front and did a vgood job.
McMahon was exciting but kicking let him down, Murphy struggled, Gilbee Ok and Wiggins loafed around when he got on, Dooley argHHHHHHHHh!as usual got outmarked on the goal line.
Port got a few goals from marking on severe angles and being able to put the ball back into play to a unmarked Port player on a easy angle.
Bartlett dropped his usual quota of marks .
Overall not a devastating loss , like St Kilda.

Luke's a good lad I think. As a big fella, he'll mature over time. I'm fairly excited by some of our new talent. Jordon McMahan HAS to be a prospect. The first kick I saw him get was a shocker, to say the least. However, I have Leon Cameron's first game on video and recall that he grubbed his first kick in league footy. If Jordon's disposal is anywhere near as good as Leon's, he'll do me.

Luke Penny's best game...... was tonight!
How good was he!?
Spoiled well, kept his cool under pressure, took a couple of good grabs and rebounded effectively. I must admit, that based on his performances last year and early this year, it wasn't exactly a 'pphhooaarr this kid's gonna be a star!!", type reaction, as with many other youngsters in the comp. He's been with us for just over two years now, and it's great to finally see a performance like that, and let's hope he builds on it further. As Joe pointed out, he impressed (against the most inform ruckman of the comp) last week, but I can't help feeling that we're seeing the emergence of a top line key defender for years to come..... of course we don't want to get ahead of ourselves just yet ;)
Add Hahn to the list of youngsters to impress too. Showed a lot of character to come back from a 4 week spell in the ressies so strongly. He was given an opportunity and grabbed it. A couple of mistakes, but along with Penny, was bloody solid in defence.
McMahon was quiet, but in saying that, spent a considerable amount of time on the bench. Given a bit of time and a chance to beef up a bit, gotta agree with Waltzing Woof Biscuit that we've got a certain prospect on our hands.
For the other youngsters, I think the dropping of Murphy was the right decision. He wasn't getting much of a run in the seniors, so let's hope he can go back to the seconds, have a day out, and be all the stronger for it when he gets back into the team.
Alvey found a bit of it, and did OK. Had an injury for most of the pre season and only been back for a couple of weeks, so let's hope Terry gives him another few opportunities to prove himself.
Overall, fantastic to see such encouraging signs from the kids .... at last! :D
