I saw Laurie Keene the other day - he looks about 8 foot 15. Still looks as though he could be playing AFL - very fit and trim.

Anyone know his height and weight?

I'm curious because, I saw Gardy the day after and I couldn't help thinking that Keene might have towered over him.

I think Keene only ever played about 35 games for us and but for injury could have been one of the great big men.

Ah Basil, we hardly knew ye.

He played in that Ted Whitten kick 'n' giggle game this year, so he'd be at least reasonably fit.

My favorite all time eagles Ruckman...such a shame that injuries struck him down so early in his career...from memory he was about 205cm or some 6'8.

Yeah he is always down at city beach with his kids. He is a huge bloke.

I bumped into Dean Irving a few years back at the Good, the bad and the Ugly. Not a huge guy in comparison to Laurie but a nice bloke. Wildly drunk on Tequilla I waddled oer and demanded to have a chat while I yelled out "Big Bird about 400 times. He thought it was hilarious but act surprised that I had even heard of him!

I think Laurie is currently the Eagles ruck coach. I see him at City Beach and Floreat quite a bit too.

I think "Basil" is a reference to Basil Fawlty.

Speaking of ex-Eagles ruckmen, I was walking out of a game towards the end of last season and there was Phil Scott. Nobody seemed to recognise him, which was a shame.

Scott was an honest journeyman.

Good bloke too

Big Laurie Keene stands at 203cm and his playing weight was 100kg.

Which is 1cm shorter and 1kg lighter than what Dean Cox was listed at this year.

So yeah, big guy eh.

Basil had the makings to be our first key position star but cruely hampered with achilles injuries, he plays in the teddy whitten legend games and yes looks fit

Keene was a champion. If he was fully fit and enabled to play a couple hundred more games for the club, he would have down down as a legend of the game.

If anyone saw the 88 WAFL grand final, they would remember Keene basically winning the game for Subi for his rucking and around the ground efforts.

The guy was awesome.
