The weekend my son was born

I kept the West Australian from the 2nd of June 1997 (Monday) the day after my son, Sam was born. It was before I started following the Eagles.

That weekend we lost to North Melbourne by 52 points at Optus Oval.

There was an article talking about the travel factor.

Ben Cousins was out withan injury, but he was a leading posession getter up to round ten. We were in fourth place, with a 10-6 record, and Josh Wooden debuted against North, and Chad Morrison was a leading contributor.

For some reason, 1997 is a blank for me. Can't even remember who won the premiership without having to count back from 2000 :S

My folks kept the newspaper on the day my sister was born - it had the Trevor Chappell incident on the back sports page!
