Three picks, three kids, who we gonna get??
10 - Burges
20 - Spencer
26 - Pettigrew
This is taking into consideration that other better players have been drafted.
Is Michael EMbley worth pick 26?

For me it is
11 - Burges
20 - Johnson
26 - Cosgriff
Rookie List
Michael Embley

11: McLean - Hard in and under midfielder to complement Kerr/Chick. HS reckons eagles are keen
20: Beau Waters - Papers report the eagles are keen on him
26: M. Johnson - Tall defender, could come in handy. Should still be around this early
No Burges based on the assumption that he's not good enough for #11, and will be snapped up by someone else before pick 20/26 (taken purely due to reports WCE were hiding him, despite lack of any real evidence).
Hmm...
11. Chaplin
20. Moody
26. Surjan
Today's BF's phantom draft should be interesting!

I like the sound of Chaplin.
I seriously doubt Surjan will be around at 26 and Moody may be gone before pick 20 but may still be available.
The problem we have this year is the Docker have picks 10, 12 and 19 which creates a bit of uncertainty for us. Their needs are different to ours in that their priority would be an inside midfeilder where ours would be finding a key position player. Although we have some good up and coming prospects in this area we would still be looking to cover this area as talls seem to take longer to develop.

It shouldn't matter if they have picks 10,12 and 19, or if another club holds them. Clubs are* drafting the best talent available, and if Freo pick the WA kids instead of best available, then there'll be more depth lower down for us.
* - With some exceptions, but not to the extent of taking Pettigrew or Johnson ahead of a Chaplin or Watts due to their state of origin.
Who knows who we'll pick (apart from Woosha, Nissy etc). But what I like about this year's draft is that not only do we have good early picks, there is also an even spread of talent that throws up some interesting possibilities.
I reckon I would've seen about 100 different permutations of how our top 3 picks will pan out and bar a couple of furphies I'd be happy (more or less) with the lot.
Here's hoping for a highly rated youngster to drop into our laps at #11 ;)

Why it matters is because Fremantle (if picking the best talent available) would undoubtedly be looking at taking the same players we are looking at (ie the McLeans, Chaplins and Waters).

Just curious here
How many people have seen the majority of these kids play?
I mean this is like the hot topic at the moment with the off-season and all, but how many people here have actually SEEN these young blokes play and not just read about them?

I have seen Johnson play but like the majority of people haven't seen a lot of the other players play. As fans of the game all the information we have is what others or the media tell us.
With Burges, for example, there isn't a lot of information about him around but then if you were trying to hide someone in a draft you wouldn't want much known about him. For him to be able to rate in the agility and vertical leap categories at draft camp while supposedly having Osteoitis Pubis (or whatever) and a bad back to me speaks volumes about his potential. He could turn out to be a hack but then so could 50% of the top 20 players.
How else would we know that Shane Crawfords gay. Basicly it boils down to having to trust the media. Eventually they get it right. :D

Its either discussing endless hypotheticals on which "name" will get drafted when, or we join the peanut gallery on the General Talk boards and discuss parking at Highpoint.
It keeps us Bigfooty nerds occupied.
Ok well in the phantom draft we got...
Pick 11 Ryley Dunn
Pick 20 Beau Waters
Pick 26 Michael Johnson
I'm happy with that. Over-looked Burges which probably wouldnt happen. Got 2 very hard players and a ready made key defender. All these guys could just about walk into our side.

in the BFPD i like Dunn, Waters and Johnson - I reckon that's a pretty solid group of kids there.
Is there any chance Bradley will slip through to 11??? doubtful, but quite a few people reckon he may go through to 7 or 8, so as unlikely as it seems, could just happen.
I would like to us take Surjan at some point - not quite worth pick 11, but he may not be available at pick 20.

On another thread I posted my preference of draft picks.
In brackets is where i think they'll go
Top players unexpectadly falling through to pick 11:
1. Adam Cooney (1)
2. Colin Sylvia (2)
3. Kepler Bradley (5)
4. Andrew Walker (3)
5. Kane Tenace (4)
6. Troy Chaplin (probably the most likely of these 6 to fall through but would be considered an unlikely happening) (13)
Pick 11:
7. Ryley Dunn (15)
8. Jacob Surjan (11)
9. Brock McLean (6)
10. Fergus Watts (7)
11. William Gayfer (9)
12. Farren Ray (10)
13. Matt Moody (12)
14. Callum Burges (19)
15. Raphael Clarke (8)
Pick 20:
16. Bill Morrison (16)
17. David Mundy (17)
18. Michael Johnson (20)
19. Ricky Dyson (21)
20. Beau Waters (26)
21. Luke Peel (27)
Pick 26:
22. Brad Symes (18)
23. Josh Willoughby (30)
24. Llane Spanderman
25. Michael Spencer (22)
26. David Trotter (29)
27. Ben Cosgriff (24)
28. Jay Nash (23)
29. Michael Pettigrew
My predictions for Top 30 picks who I hope we don't touch:
Tim Schmidt (14)
Brent Hall (25)
Kyle Archibald (28)
I think we'll have the option between Chaplin, Dunn and Surjan for pick 11, and I'd wanna pick up Chaplin if we had the chance, but I think we'll take Surjan. There is much of a muchness between the three, and would be happy with either of them.
With Pick 20 - If Burges falls through to pick 20, which he just may depending on whether or not Freo want him, we've gotta take him if available. But Johnson would probably be our best bet here, however I would like to think we'd pick up Mundy or Morrison before him if they were available, and possibly Dunn could be a very outside chance to slip through to 20.
With Pick 26 - Johnson may slip through to 26 if we don't pick him up above, and as much raps as I've given Waters, I'd take Johnson first if he was available here. I do think that Waters is our best bet here, as all the guys I had above him will probably go top 20, but if one of them managed to slip through you'd have to take them.
For me, the best possible result for us would be:
11 - Troy Chaplin
20 - Riley Dunn
26 - Billy Morrison or Callum Burges
but that would be an absolute dream and require those three to slip through quite a bit lower than expected.
A more realistic possible outcome would be:
11 - Riley Dunn, Jacob Surjan or Troy Chaplin
20 - Callum Burges, Michael Johnson, Billy Morrison or David Mundy
26 - Beau Waters, Michael Johnson or Michael Spencer
This is one of the hardest drafts to predict ever I reckon.
