Because he is a English pie chucker!

He hasn't really taken any wickets or made any runs in the 2nd IV, although he has been bowling fairly economically

As opposed to the Aussie pie chuckers currently representing WA in the absence of Brad Williams?

This guy has a solid first class record (over 200 wickets) and is more than capable with the bat.

A batting average of 24.

A bowling average of 32.

Nothing terribly impressive from a guy who plays for a second division county side.

Yet still more impressive then some of the "bowlers" in WA's first class squad.

He does pretty well in grade cricket over here, but doesn't really set the world on fire. Bowls tightly, but seems to lack a bit of penetration - a typical line would be 17-6-25-1, something along those lines.

Also, as corporal has said he does stuff all in second XI games, but having said that he's not alone there. As an allrounder he's similar to Worthington, Wates, Taylor, K. Harvey who are all going to handy with the bat but you're really not going to be able to rely on them in the top 6.

I'd like to see him have a go in the Warriors team but I'd be surprised if he did get a go at the expense of a "local" product. Taylor's getting a look v Victoria this week, and I'd say Dimitri's behind Wates and Worthington as well. At the end of the day it's a case of an Aussie pie-chucker being favoured over a pommie pie-chucker.

Well I'd agree that he's a pie chucker but don't try to give us credit for him.

From memory he's of Sri Lankan descent but I have it in my head that he was either born or brought up in Aussie before coming over here.

It would be quite comforting to me if he got a game for WA, it would show that maybe the gap is shortening because he's nothing special.

I first saw him playing for Hampshire a few years ago when he was quite young & it seemed like he was a batsman who bowled a bit.I always felt that he had a bit of promise in 1 day cricket but I can't say that he's really come on since then.

Best description would be a bits & pieces cricketer.
