Have Troy Chaplin as Geelong's number 7 pick in their phantom drafts?
I know we need a KP foward but i don't think a 17 year old (?) is going to hold down the position, Plus there's a lot of young talent coming up in McCarthy, Lonergan and Playfair i think Chaplin would just be like that.
I think Geelong should take the best available player and in this case it will probally be Raphael Clarke, Rilley Dunn or Brock Mclean.
We've probally missed out on the best players but 1 pick.

Your logic doesn't make sense if you need a Kp forward you had the trade period to get one who would of had an immediate impact. You didn't so you do the next best thing get a 17 year old KPP who will take time. Like all KPP player in the draft.

that's my point, we have young KP fowards but they will take time and Chaplin will be no different.
So i'm trying to say they should get someone who can play a few games in their first/second year.
Eg: Brent Staker/Byron Schammer

If Chaplin was available at seven, you guys would be mad not take him, unless one of Bradley, Cooney, Sylvia, Walker or Tenace had slipped through the first 6 picks.

I would have thought that Fergus Watts would be more likely for Geelong, considering that he is a forward (and seems to be an extremely strong mark) Whereas Chaplin is an either end player?
Find out Saturday.

There is a huge difference between a ready made forward and a young developing forward.
Geelong need a CHF now!! For the next two seasons
We already have McCarthy, Playfair, Gardiner, Lonegan, and Smith who are only 2nd or 3rd year players. In two years time we hope to be getting a reward for them.
Raph Clarke and Farren Ray are better players and must be taken. The thing Geelong lacks most is genuine class players. If you really watched Geelong week in and week out and knew their list backwards you would realise this. I have not seen one Cats fan say they would take Chaplin at 7 above his odds just coz he is tall.
Most fans hope that Bradley is still available at 7 because it kills two birds with one stone. He is the best available player plus he is a tall that could turn into a KPP. All Cat fans will be praying that the name F. Ray gets called out at 4. Not because he is a bad player ( I think he is an absolute gun) but because it means the name K. Bradley becomes odds on to be called at 7.

A very clever and logical comment.
