Being at Melbourne Park, does anyone know if you can sit in the stands to watch it?

I believe Oggmonster is going. Perhaps he could give us a behind the scenes report? I also challenge him to go wearing the full Essendon kit including boots!

I am not sure exactly where it is held but was under the impression that it was one of the conference centres or rooms within the Tennis Centre and not centre-court.

Correct. It's held in the function centre, which is located just outside of Rod Laver Arena.

It would be quite funny to see a public gallery and people chanting

"Draft Sylvia Draft Sylvia, Cooney is a gun ra ra ra"

**** the AFL off to a might level wouldn't it :p

lol, it would be like the price is right... the recruiting managers are looking into the crowd for advice on who to pick, and everyone is telling them something different, with larry standing next to them with a smile on his face...

The US drafts for the NBA and NFL are big affairs. Cities bid to host them, 20,000+ crowds are not uncommon and the local fns do cheer and groan when their home town team makes a selection.

Probably a reason why it isn't open to the public...tennyboppers screaming and blokes getting drunk over the results!

You could have draft drinking games... everyone pick a TAC or WAFL/SANFL side and you have to drink every time someone from your side gets drafted!

Obviously you'd have to be drinking Carlton Draught!

Or pick a draft cliche - "hard at it", "project player", "good hands", "athlete" or "downhill skier" and every time you have the commentator/Sheehan/afl.com say it/write it, then you drink!

Great idea for all those who have draft parties..and using it as a warm-up for the rugby in the evening!

Haha, that would be gold.

Or perhaps Larry could say "Andrew Walker, come on down! You're the next contestant in the AFL Draft"
