44. Essendon – Adam Hartlett
(West Adelaide) 22 April 1986, 192cm, 83kg
A tall forward who spent much of the season with Sacred Heart College in South Australia, Hartlett spent the majority of the year playing school football, but he has caught the eye of several clubs, including Essendon and Adelaide. The Bombers are reportedly very keen on the talented tall and are certainly in the mix to take him with their fourth and final selection in this year’s National AFL Draft.
Haven't seen him so can't commit apart from saying don't really care if he take a school footballer late in the draft It we fails we wasted pick 44 not a first rounder (Davies). WIth only one pick on a Kpp it'd think we'd look to rookie a ruckman (O'keefe maybe) and a few defenders.
South Aussies will Adelaide or Port take him before Essendon? and are Essendon takeinh him high or low @ 44?

Can't see Essendon picking up a tall forward in this draft. 44 should be used on a crumbing forward.

But more agile?
Is he physically strong, can he bust open a pack, does he hold his own in one-on-one body contests?

We need a tall, and pick #28 or #44 is the best place to look at one. But you're right, we don't need a tall who is only a forward. I don't mind getting a tall who has played the majority of his footy in the forward line, as long as he has the ability to play reasonably well in defence. These kids are all still young and can still learn.

Why we need a tall backman to replace Fletch, Wellman in a few years and incase Hunt doesn't develop. We've got plenty of players to play crumbing forward roles.

Best place to look for one??? interesting you suggest that there will be a tall around at 28 and 44 well i think that is out of the question!! Clubs are after quality players, essendon i suggest would pick up a tall either clarke or kepler and develop them into a runninng defender!! 44 i suggest will be used to boost their midield!! hird, misiti, mercuri, rioli, are all only looking at another 3 years max!! and the jono's cant do it all. they will look for a project player that they can develop into a good hard running midfielder.

The talls aren't that great in this draft so there's no point using picks #6 or #13 on one, especially when good midfielders will be available.
We've recruited plenty of midfielders in recent times, and we'll recruit another three in this draft (most likely), but our need for a tall with an eye on the future is pressing.
Hird has got three years max, but I suspect it'll be two more. Mercs will probably go as soon as his contract ends. Misiti has only one more year. Rioli will be around for a while longer, he's still only about 24.

Sounds pretty good to me. If we don't get a tall at 28 this guy will probably be the only player worth taking at 44 in terms of talls.
