Just read on [URL=http://afl.com.au] that Carltons Ryan Houlihan is yet to sign with the Blues, but Blues are hping to resolve the issue in the nest 24 hrs. Heard rumours during trade period he wanted to go to St Kilda to play with his brother Josh. Houlihan I believe is a top footballer at only 21, having played 76 games for 67 goals is an important experienced playe for the Blues. Would hate to see him leave the Blues and go into the Preseason Draft leaving us with squat. Can anyone add to this?????

He's the best of the 3 Holihans running around, I don't want him at Geelong, though.

St Kilda will do just fine...

Come on seb he's not that bad!

There was a rumour on trade Friday that he was going to Geelong but I heard nothing more about it. Was posted here and on Cats Claw

The top 4 in the PSD looks pretty settled. Read has to be a Dee coz he didn't nominate for the National Draft. He only would have done that if he was sure on a place in the PSD. Richmond will take Copeland

That leaves Geelong as the first live pick. I'd take Houlihan for nothing.

Footygoss - Ryan Houlihan's contract breakdown with Carlton could see the the young utility leave the Blues and nominate for the pre-season draft. Carlton is desperate to sign the 21 year old, however there are obvious differences of opinion over a new deal and Houlihan may be a suprise exit from the club. It is believed that Houlihan is interested on a move to Melbourne, which could eventuate if the contract negotiations collapse and he nominates for the pre-season draft. Houlihan played 22 games in 2003 for 16 goals.

Houlihan hasnt signed?....i bet the bulldogs regret agreeing to draft rawlings now. Look who they could have got.

That would totally screw over Phil Read lamby

Is it just me or does the Melbourne Football Club and Phil Read have an agreement. He must have to not nominate for the National Draft. It's the only logical answer. It would be pretty low of them not to pick him up now. I suppose Rich would nab if the Dees didn't with their 2nd pick in the pre-season draft

If Carlton want to keep Ryan just tell him that if he doesn't stay he'll end up having to move an hour south to play footy.

That seems to be enough to fix most players up. Ryan will probably sign tonight :(

Alot of delisted players train with other clubs with the hope of being picked up, and Read has been given no promises, but it would be disappointing for him if we managed to get Houlihan. I'd be happy though.

Personally I think that Melbourne would be better served with Read then Houlihan....

Read give you a tough nut that could really help Melbourne whilst Houlihan is just more of the same and in fact probably not as classy as some of the current crop of Melbourne flankers and midfielders.

I am still speweing we got rid of Read...

I reckon that we should go for Copeland ahead of Houlihan unless Copeland requests too mcuh money. Both would improve our side as would Read.We can't really go wrong.

its orite, dont stress carlton supporters, houlihan is basically just trying to get more money. first of all, around trade season he said he wanted to go to st kilda to play with his brother who hasnt even played a game yet and therefore has no certainty of stayin there in the next few years. now melbourne r tryin to get him but he'll stay at carlton, just be patient.

and by the way... he is much more classy than melbournes current crop of players no1bankteller ;)

He better not screw us over, I really wouldn't want to lose him as he's a hugely underrated player.

I would tip him to go at the moment.

Much rather Ryan Houlihan to Phil Read....we have plenty of half back flankers and desperately need a decent goalsneak. I know we have Vardy but he's struggled over the last couple of years.

Thompson would never take him, one Houlihan was enough for him, too.

For once, I agree with the 'Good Boy' policy, that has been implemented down at Cat Land.
