is there a hint of over confidence from the hawks this week? To big, tough, tall, fast, athletic, pretty, you name it imho your mob thinks it.

the saints this week will only be a warm up for the main event against the bombers in two weeks time or so i've heard from the golden brown army, cats and dogs excluded.

there is definately the hint of an upset in the air this saturday. after a confidence boosting win the saints have plenty of youngsters in the side itching to prove themselves against the comp leaders, several old timers returning to some form, several new recruits starting to feel comfortable in their new team, and a new game plan master minded by saint malcolm.

good luck hawks, just remember we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

STW, thanks for the warning. No, it isn't overconfidence at all. We've been bracing ourselves for a loss since at least round 4, and we've been hearing the taunts from opposition supporters (and not just them, hello Sandie) as well.

At the moment we're delirious at having done so well. None of us imagined for a moment that we'd be 6-0 going into round 7. I don't think we quite know how to handle it. Geez, if the supporters displayed half the belief in the team the players do, we'd be unbearable by now. :)

Yep, St Kilda is another danger game. Your win against the Swans last week was a beauty, and I think you can gauge your progress by how well you do against us this week. If you beat us, I'll be among the first to congratulate you.

Good luck.

STL, LOL, actually i think you might be right (not about the big heads!) we are due for a fall, our game against Adelaide was lacklustre and your Saints had a confidemce booster, but gee success in the last few seasons was almost six wins for the year let alone six in a row, so i think the boys will still be hungry.......oh and on the big headed supporters theme, would you say a supporter group whos team finished last badly enought to gain concession draft picks, then sprout to the whole world the next pre season that they are a top four team were a bit big headed ;) ahead of there time? Heres for a good game tonight. GO HAWKS!

bubba, lol, any saints fans with big heads over the pre season would now have a head the size of a bitter pill.

we were infuriatingly close but once again no cigar. your mob were just a little bit more polished when the game was there to be won in the last 8 minutes. barker killed us and made maxy look pretty average on the night. everitt had dominated the middle all night but when the game was in the balance thompson, chick and barker ran amok, much to my anguish.

and yes i am still bitter and twisted about that pathetic little white pr*ck giving dixon a kick and hawthorn another goal for a little push that both players were involved in.

anyway it was a good game and even though the saints threw it away the hawks simply knew how to win, a trait forgotten at my club.

good luck against the bombers and remember we have to play you lot again, by that time the saints will have learnt how to win and will be vying for a finals spot so watch out. ;)

STL, i gotta say i reckon we were lucky to get out of that game, you guys killed us out of the middle except for the last 10 minutes, Dixons was a soft free kick, but gee generally i reckon the umpiring was appalling for both teams, chin up though you guys had a real crack without Harvey and Thompson, forget about your big name recruits Milne will end up being your new star, hes going to be a sensation! Your backline IMO is going to be your achilles heel and i for the life of me cant understand why you didnt hold on to at least one of the Wakelins at least until you uncovered a good young backman. I too look forward to the rematch, when we will be fighting for top spot and you will be fighting for a place in the eight LOL

bubba, absolutely correct about milne. it always amazed me how he wasn't on a senior list before round 3 this year. last year in the reserves he was exciting and kicked some freakish goals. he has handled the step up to the seniors extremely well and if he can be a 40 goal a year player he will be worth watching.

i'm not losing any sleep over getting rid of the wakelins, if they play good footy else where good luck to them. at the end of the year they were seen as part of the old and tired regime of saints players who had underachived at the club. they cleared plenty of dead wood at the end of the year and blight will again at the end of this year. we picked up hamill for darryl who will play plenty of good footy at the saints.
