Shock, Horror  WC do not take the supertalent that is Callum Burges.
Despite everyone, journo's, BF experts, recruiters, Sheedy, Burges' coach and Mother Teresa all tipping him to go early, he has not been picked up by the eagles.

Not surprised at all. Total beat up.

I've gotta admit I feel a bit sorry for the kid. He turns out to a pawn in the game of AFL drafting. Face on the back page of the West one day. Forgotten nobody the next. He's still not selected, maybe we would rookie list him?

Too young to be rookie listed.

I agree.

It's all bollocks really.

He is young though and can come again next year. Or he can settle down to play good footy for the mighty Falcons! It's a wonderful life.

Poor kid....

Would like to see him do well....hopefully we can rooki list him...

By the way based on Surjan, Johnson not being picked up we may be able to rookie list them which would mean that we have significant opportunity to do as well as the year we rookied Cox and Fletcher. Lets hope!

It was a bit of a suprise they didn't pick him (to me, anyway) but he'll benefit from a season in the WAFL. Maybe next year.

Burges can get a solid season with West Perth next year and then nominate for the 2004 draft. He's still a young kid with a lot of growth and development to go - if he sticks with it he'll get drafted next year.

If Burges is too young then he can go away and work on his game with the hope of next year. That's some consolation at least.

I think at one stage some of us would've been punting that we draft Surjan, Burges and Mike Johnson. None of them got draft at all and makes us look like complete amateurs (which is fine because we all are :D ). It does show how fickle drafting and the AFL really.
