Cats draw night assignment in Wizard opener

Geelong will face Port Adelaide in the opening round of the 2004 Wizard Home Loans Cup on Saturday 21 February, with the game shown nationally on Fox Footy Channel. The game will start at 7:10pm.

The Cats will be looking to better last season’s semi final finish in the AFL pre-season and will need to overcome the minor premiers at Bundaberg Stadium.


Wizard Cup - Round One fixture

Friday Feb 20
Western Bulldogs v Richmond at Telstra Dome, Melbourne, 7.40pm (Channel 9)
Essendon v Fremantle at Marrara Oval, Darwin, 7.10pm (Fox Footy Channel)

Saturday Feb 21
Kangaroos v Melbourne at Manuka Oval, Canberra, 1.10pm (Fox Footy Channel)
Port Adelaide v Geelong at Bundaberg Stadium, Cairns, 7.10pm (Fox Footy Channel)
West Coast v Collingwood at Subiaco, Perth, 5.40pm (Channel 9)

Sunday Feb 22
Hawthorn v Brisbane Lions at York Park, Launceston, 1.10pm (Fox Footy Channel)
Sydney v Carlton at Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 3.45pm (Fox Footy Channel)
Adelaide v St Kilda at AAMI Stadium, Adelaide, 4.40pm (Channel 10)

I know, it's a bummer-- but a true "home" game would have been ruled out for Kardinia Park, with the re-development of one of the stands at Skilled Stadium.

But the good news, it's been a good draft day, the preseason schedule's coming together... can't it be February or March already? :D

We did beat the Lions, but paid for it the following week against Collingwood where we were jaded from the long trip the week before.

For the sake of his body however, I'd give him a rest when we play in Cairns.
