I am so happy, Kane Tenace I can not believe it one of the best midfielders available, will add the electryfing pace in our midfield.
I think our midfield will be great I would line it up like this.
Ruck: Steven King
Ruck Rover: Kane Tenace
Rover: Gary Ablett jnr
Center: Cameron Ling
Second tier: Kelly Corey Chapman Bartel
I was listening to the draft with my mate Hosko and his team Essendon had the pick before I was hoping he would pick Kepler and he was hoping he would pick Tenace.
Dont know much about Thirley but Spencer was captain of WA and has a big body. And of course Blake- he rules.

Kane Tenace
Medium, inside midfielder who has exceptional pace and ball handling ability. Can break free in a pack situations to run and carry the ball forward. High possession winner who always hits targets. All-Australian U/18 in 2003 after representing Vic Country. From Shepparton FC
Matthew Spencer
Tall, inside forward who has strength and stamina. Good overhead mark, fantastic competitor, and shows leadership qualities. Has courage. Captain of the WA U/18 side this year. From Trinity College.

Tenance, **** YES, just what we need.
I was only joking about Thurley, can't believe we took him at 22. The forward line will be crowded, especially the flanks. Maybe they want another tilt at the VFL flag ;)

Cameron Thurley is a 22 year old, 182cm small forward from Tasmania who played in their VFL team last year.
Mark Blake was taken under the father-son rule.

Matt (Spanner) Spencer is a fantastic guy born leader School Captain, Swan Districts Colts captain, WA State Team Captain and winner of fairest and best in WA Colts this year after missing 5 - 6 games. He is super fit lowest skin fold at draft camp and going to be a very very good player for the Geelong FC. Highly thought of in the West and I am disappointed that Freo or WCE did not pick him up. I am sure you will do the right thing by him Good Luck.

Thurley is not really a small forward, more like a medium forward or a "third tall", hence my comment on the forward line being crowded. Kingsley is going to have to have a good year....

Anyone for Tenace? OK, a bad pun, but someone had to say it eventually. :)
I wouldn't say that our midfield is loaded, at least not yet-- but with the addition of a player with Tenace's skills, potential and credentials at lower levels, it's given matters a whole different dimension, especially in the middle.

You've hit it right on the head Y_I. While we have plenty of ball winners, none of them, maybe except for Gazz have a fair amount of pace and that can be exploited by the better sides. But with the addition of Kane, who provides that speed and combined with his exquisite skills will be a great pick up.

And not to mention the depth that's being built up, or which stands to be built up, at various positions around the ground.
Things are starting to look a little bit deeper in midfield and in the forward line-- or at least deeper than it's been before.
I'd say that some draft-day objectives have been met, to put it lightly.

Is exactly what we need. A midfielder with blistering pace and sensational skills. Perfect foil for what we've already got. Did you see those highlights on channel 10's Draft show of Kane bursting out of the centre taking a bounce and kicking goals from outside 50!!!! :eek: :D :D :D YES PLEASE. A few of those a game will keep me happy :p
I too love Tenace, is there anybody who doesn't? :p
And I like the look of this Spencer kid, too. Thurley, well.... I suppose we should give him a chance to strut his stuff before deriding him.

I think our forwards need TIME to develop, only problem is, they're running out of the stuff.

Tenace was a steal at 7. Geelong did very well.

We'll see :p . Sylvia is very tough and fearless and a better mark but Kane is quicker and has better skills. Kane also had a slightly better year this year.
Time will tell Lamby but i look forward to those two slugging it out for many years to come

We need a quality, ready made, tall marking forward. We have developing talls in the pipeline. As everyone else has said, Tenance is just about the final piece in our midfield puzzle.
Ablett, Tenance, Moloney will compliment Ling, Corey, Chapman, Bartel, Kelly and Enright nicely.

Matthew Spencer, Geelong's fourth and final pick (No. 42) on Saturday, is keen to extinguish that myth and embark on a long and illustrious AFL career.

The 194cm, 89kg centre half-forward, who was drafted from WAFL side Swan Districts, has received glowing character references, and he certainly knows who to impress when he arrives at the Cattery.
"I'm just going to try and gain the respect of the players and the coaching staff in the first half of the season, just train as hard as I can, keep backing myself and show that I'm a hard worker," Spencer said.
"If I can crack one game that would be an awesome achievement I reckon, but I don't know how far off I am from playing at AFL level."
"I think I've got a pretty good physique, I'm pretty well built, it's just the pace of the game that's going to be the tester."
The 18-year-old is described as a team-oriented player, with a strong overhead mark and good strength and stamina.
Spencer captained the Western Australian under-18 side this year and has a long list of achievements to go with it.
He won the Jack Clarke medal as the the WA Colts competitions' best and fairest, despite playing only 12 games, before being elevated to the Swan Districts reserves late in the campaign.
"We thought that at pick 42, with the ability and the character he's shown, he's going to give it everything he's got and may well develop into a very good player for us," Geelong recruiting manager Stephen Wells said.
"When we picked the two running players with our first two picks, we thought it would be a nice balance to get a taller player if we could and Matthew was one of the taller players that we did rank quite well."
Spencer said he placed little expectation on himself leading up to the draft and admits being surprised when receiving a call from his mum while working in a clothing store Saturday morning.
