SAFM in Adelaide played Delta Goodrem's version of Happy Christmas (War is OVer) this morning. I never in my life have been so disheartened to hear a seconded version of a song. Delta Goodrem has completely wrecked one of the most incredible songs in music history. Her voice is shocking and I cannot believe that the Australian public should make this song number one. I swear I thought someone was being strangled when I first tuned in.

I dont mind Delta, but any respect I had for her as a musician just went right out the window. This song should be untouchable - as should any sung by the great John Lennon.

Terribly disappointed and I hope Goodrem's version doesnt get the airplay I know it will.

Of all the stupid ideas for song covers.........

Although I do remember years ago that Hanson recorded the Beach Boys' 'Little Saint Nick' and that horrified many, but it was actually quite good. So who knows.

God, I hate her. I wish I knew a culling song.

Is there a musician who you don't hate? So far all I've seen you post about on this board is your dislike of various musicians, without mentioning anything positive about anyone.

Probably not.

I love far more than I hate. I hate Delta's evil black guts the most, though. My long list was in the Overrated category.

Is there an 'Artist Who I Love Thread?', then maybe I can help you out. Thanks for asking though.

Sarcasm aside, I do tend to find it ironic (if not also slightly amusing), that after bagging Elliott Smith for being a "tortured soul", your own posts tend to read as though you are sitting there, poised with razor blade, ready to spill your own claret due to your own disatisfaction with music.

Hardly.
Those who were surprised he topped himself are the ones who should be given razors. It was more obvious than a mystery penned by a 4yo.

Oh man i just heard it! Ya just don't remake songs like that even though it already has millions of times but she has totally killed the whole song! Her music isn't half bad but this song in particular i can't believe she remade it....I just don't think ya could ever beat John Lennon's version of Happy x-mas

On the contrary.

Well hurry up then - I'm sure there are people waiting. Clean the blade when you're done please - we wouldn't want to be spreading whatever diseases it is you have to people in their dying moments . . .

Oh really?! So I suppose every singer/song-writer who pens a sad tune is suicidal?

At any rate, how is Elliott Smith's suicide any worse than that of Kurt Cobain (I see you listed Nirvana as one of your favourite bands in another thread)?

Or maybe you're just easily convinced because Nirvana were more popular . . .

No, I won't kiss you.
