Since this is a footy based chat area, I thought we could come up with an All Star Band, basically your favourite musicians in one group.
Mine is:
Eddie Vedder Vocals, Guitar
Angus Young Lead Guitar
Chris Cheney Rhythm Guitar, backing vocals
Michael Anthony Bass
Matt Cameron Drums
Do you think they would draw a crowd at the local pub?

my dream team band would consist of the following legends.
mike patton - vocals (ex faith no more, tomahawk, fantomas,mr bungle)
kirk hammett - lead guitar (metallica)
daron malakian - rythm guitar (system of a down)
roger waters - bass guitar (ex pink floyd)
dave lombardo - drums (slayer, fantomas, grip inc.)
would be an interesting power struggle beetween patton, malakian and waters to see who would do the bulk of the songwriting. would put my $ on waters though.
Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) - vocals/lead & rhythm guitar
Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions/Electric Sun/solo) - lead guitar
Michael Schenker (Scorpions/UFO/MSG/solo) - rhythm/lead guitar
Roger Glover (Deep Purple) - bass
Keef Moon (The Who) - drums
Justifications :
Mustaine - anger, guitars, and a naturally angry voice... to sum it up in two words - antagonistic virtuosity.
Roth - greatest guitar player EVER. End of story.
Schenker - ability to play lead and rhythm equally well... could have slotted Blackmore or Eddie VH into lead, but Schenker is the better rhythm player... and writes riffs like few others.
Glover - a monkey could play Glover's Deep Purple bass lines, but that's the beauty of it. With Schenker/Roth/Mustaine sharing guitar, the bass player has to be a monkey who commands no more attention than the silly beret he wears. Roger Glover, your time has come.
Keefy - The greatest. 25 years on (almost to the week), RIP you crazy bugger.

Hey Ghost man did you see Denis Tek when he toured in late 93/early 94? He had Kent Steedman with him - awesome!
Virg Donati theres one out of left field! Good drummer. You know you are getting old when you remember Taste (let alone Cloud Nine!)
Well off the current scene (not all time)
Greg Graffin (Bad Religion) - Lead Vocals
Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age)- Lead Guitar and backup vocals
Chris Cheney (The Living End) - Rhythm Guitar and backup vocals
Matt Freeman (Rancid) - Bass
Dave Grohl (Queens of the Stone Age/Nirvana) or Joey Castillo (Queens of the Stone Age/Danzig) - Drums
Whoever drums for QOTSA must be good, the drums in Songs for the deaf are awesome.
Ok maybe a little bit of style clash will happen here.

It's all Grohl's drums on Songs for the Deaf and don't forget he did all the drumming on Tenacious D's album aswell.
I saw Joey Castillo play for QOTSA at the big day out last year and he ripped up Grohls parts like butter and played like a caveman on heat :D (awesome drummer!).
Bonham,Paice,Chamberlin,Benante,Donati,Peart,Hayward,Hirst-drums.
Jones,Evripidou,Pastorius,Squire,Darcy,Lee-bass.

ps. has anyone here heard the poxy cheeseball Gold 104 song, with a chorus that goes "If there's a rock 'n roll heaven, well you know they've got a hell of a band." It's an embarrasing song, but it's about the same topic as this thread.

Drums - Ray Cooper (Moon is tepid by comparison). Looks like a senior Civil Servant, plays like Animal from the Muppets. I've seen him take over an Eric Clapton concert.
Bass - Nathan East. Another who often used to play with Clapton. A 'session man' from NY who the good know and respect.
Saxaphone - Pals Johnson. Who? You ask. You've heard him play. You've heard the 'Pink Panther' theme. That's him playing. The story goes that when he 'cut' that piece the hard bitten Detroit studio musicians - the sort of guys who might raise an eyebrow for a great set by Wonder or Marley, but might not - stood up and applauded. They knew what they'd heard.
Guitar - Three names: Steve "The Colonel" Cropper (played guitar on most of Otis Redding's work, Booker T and the MGs) very smooth player.
Brian May - Don't need to say much.
Buddy Guy - Best of all.
Male vocals - Although Guy and Cropper can, at their peak James Brown and Freddie Mercury
Female vocal - With this band, Aretha Franklin.

Drums - Bonzo
Vocals - Freddie Mercury
Guitar - Keith Richards
Bass - Jaco Pastorius
Keys - Rick Wakefield
Horns - Kool & the Gang's brass section
It would result in the most horrid cacophony, but I, and they, would be happy.
