Steve Allender ex-geelong player (? when) is studying at Oxford University.

Oxford Uni are coming upto play Edinburgh this weekend. I play for the Edinburgh Puffins, so I'm keen to find out a bit more about the bloke. I've tried google and found quite a bit about his PhD in PE but not alot about his footy.

Was hoping some of you guys could fill me in?:)

Thanks

The Steven Allender I remember was a star ruckman at Port Melbourne in the early 80's (won the Liston Trophy) before failing at Sydney/ South Melbourne and Hawthorn after much fanfare.

Must be in his 40's by now. Still a fair threat in this game I would imagine.

Ah Thanks.

Maybe he's coaching, not sure from the article I read. (link on International football forum). Anyone with anything resembling talent would be a threat to us.

Our more senior players rate us as a high C low B grade team. So a star ruckman aging or not would be fun to play against :D

Just started this year in feb/march

We play on the meadows (a big grassy park...not actual meadows:) )in the middle of Edinburgh.

Have sort of slowed down for the winter... too dark to train on Wednesday evenings which is what we have been doing over the summer. Have started having some sessions on a Sunday afternoon though.

I know the Meadows alright. I lived in and around Edinburgh for four years. Hardly ever saw anyone chasing the pig skin around though, just myself and the odd friend.

I checked our website and couldn't find Steve Allender's name amoungst our past players, so perhaps he played Under 19's or Reserves for Geelong, but not Seniors.

I am a friend of Steve Allenders as well as his father. Can pretty safely say he's not studying at Oxford Uni and is currently not overseas. The Steve Allender I know is the Liston winner. He is in his 40's and has a young family.

I'm not sure of any other Steve Allenders who played the game so I'm not really sure who the guy overseas is.

Unfortunately I am out of town now, which is a pity as Edinburgh rocks! Re - Steve Allender, my guess is that he worked with GFC rather than played with them. It seems that as a human movement specialist, he has probably done something in the training department.

Scottish tories! didn't know that any existed any more, although I did vote for them at the last council election after the candidate promised me a new washing machine. He came last by a big margin.

The steve allender referred to was a small blond lad who apparently played in the geelong reserves at one point. Not the star ruckman of the 80s.

Same name diffierent guy.

Sorry about any confusion thanks for the help though.
