As this year is almost over I was thinking about the movies that I'd seen this year and which ones stood out.

For this year I'd have to say the absolute stand out movie I saw was

City of God - A true story and a truly brilliant film.

Honorable mentions go to:

Y Tu Mama Tambien
The 25th hour
The Life Of David Gale
Bend It Like Beckham

Yeah I enjoyed "city of god"
My faves would also include "24 hour party people" and Identity

Seabiscuit and Punch Drunk Love would probably be my favourites so far. Can't wait for ROTK though.

I've only been to the cinema three times this year so don't have a whole lot of options but I really enjoyed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Finding Nemo wins by default then, as it's the only movie I've seen (or can remember seeing).

Listen to me, people! GO TO THE MOVIES!

Some of you have been once this year? Three times?
I've been twice this week!

Hmmm. Movies that were real good in '03...

Finding Nemo
Matchstick Men
Punchdrunk Love
The Two Towers
X-men 2
Kill Bill
(did 'the Hours' come out this year or last?)

... and that's just off the top of my head.

Again - go to the movies!

I thought 2003 was a very poor year for films. The only 2 I really liked were:

KIll Bill Volume 1.

I would've really enjoyed The Ring if it was touted as a drama...but with all this talk of it being the "scariest movie of all time", I found it very disappointing, wasn't remotely scary.

Watch the original "Ringu", much scarier than The Ring. And The girl Sadako..arghh!! The Eye! she is Death personified!

I loved "How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days". I didn't expect it to be a good movie but I absolutley loved it. So funny. After next week hopefully I can say the same for "Scary Movie 3". I love previous two Scary Movie's.

Yep.
Actually just saw it yesterday.
Was very disappointing because my friends were saying how "scary" it was. I found Play School more scary.

Seabiscuit - great storyline

Mystic River- superb acting and plot

Master and Commander- fantastic action. Crowe deserves an Oscar nomination.

Pirates of the Caribbean- fun, adventurous film

Mystic River should be in the overrated thread? Horribly predictable.

Ah I forgot!

'Phone Booth' with Colin Farrell. Great cinemotography, well made and well-acted. I thought Farrell deserves an Oscar nomination for it. Especially for his very well done New York accent when he is a full-on Paddy with a very strong Irish accent.
