Not entirely true, there is some great hip hop out there these days, it's just not available in the quantity that it was back then, when just about everything that was getting released was at least worth a couple of listens.

I can relate to what you're saying, majority of the rap that gets played on the radio and what not these days is disposable garbage (but then again the same applies to most other popular music these days). 50 Cent is one of the most uninspired, lazy and all around worthless artists I've heard in a long time, I pity anyone who would waste money on such crap.

But so long as Eminem tells the kids what to buy, he'll do quite well. :P

it was a pitty that one of the 9 bullets 50 cent was shot with didn't go through his voice box...

old skool rap is tops... you still hear a bit of that these days, jurrassic 5 are an example... but there is some great aussie rapping talent out there... i don't mind a bit of downsyde from perth, the resin dogs are awesome and then there's 1200 techniques...

there's still good rap out there at the moment, u just need to sort thru all the crap 2 find it...

Yeah, Fitty Cent is sooo relevant to the vast majority of Australian kids trying to drag themselves up outta da projects.

And all class.

"I ain't that nigga trying to holla cause I want some head
I'm that nigga trying to holla cause I want some bread
I could care less how she perform when she in the bed
Bitch hit that track, catch a date, and come and pay the kid
Look baby this is simple, you can't see
You f***ing with me, you f***ing with a P-I-M-P"

50 Cent just ain't the full buck.

The only MC I'd cross to see the street these days would be KRS. Although if it wasn't for work I would've checked out Prince Paul the other week.

Whilst it may be hard for AUssies to relate to 50 cent. The may find it easier to relate to english rapper 50 pence. With his smash hits

In Da Pub
and
P.I.N.T

With Lyrics such as

"I dunno what you heard about me
But you ain't a smirnoff for free
you can sit yourself on my knee
but keep your hands off my P.I.N.T"

or

"You Can find me in da Pub
With a pint of bud
Look Love I got a fiva
If ya let me see ya jugs
I'm into playing darts
I ain't into growing shrubs
So come fill up my mug
before my _______ gets stuck.

That's much easier for aussies to relate to.

Go get em from Kazza

I don't give what you people think of 50 cent. But for the people who do like him i went to his concert in Melb last night and man it was gr8! Obie Trice, G-unit were all good 50 himself was lookin dam fine but he's starting to lose his voice so that was a bit of a let down. Still had a absoloute ball...kick ass concert

6 Dec 2003, 21:51
Yeah I went too. It was a great night. Obie Trice's performance was my highlight and the amound of hot chicks around.;) The only dissappointment was 50 losing his voice. It just didn't sound the same when he came back on. By the way Spriggzy, who was that fat black guy rapping with Obie Trice?

Diego
7 Dec 2003, 16:18
it's people like you two who wear your fubu clothes and cheap arse wanna be ****** look that gives hiphop a bad name.

50 cent is pathetic, rubbish and adds nothing to hiphop. All he creates is division and ****ed up vibes.

I just wish he was shot and crap like his style be buried.

Bresh
7 Dec 2003, 18:16
Shame, shame, shame.

Obie Trice is ok-ish... 50 Cent is the ****ing antichrist.

i think those of you who went to the concert are trying to save face... my sister went and she said she was totally ripped off... he didn't loose his voice a little, he could barely sing... he attempted about 2 songs but he couldn't preform, so the supporting acts did the whole show... looks like you only got 50 cents of value out of every dollar of the 80 or so dollars you spent to go and see him 'perform'...

Yo.

As Run DMC once said "You be 'illin"

It's fine to like rap, but at least like a rapper with class. At least some of the stuff Tupac produced was meaningful.

It's like EPMD once said:

'Rap is outta' control.'

Aussie hip-hop is very exciting in the moment, reminds me of the US scene about fifteen years ago, just before it prostituted itself.

Aussie hip hop is booming at the moment. A few years back only a few cds were coming out a year. Now days cd's are basically coming out every week.

This guy isn't even professional enough to keep his voice for a show.......bloody hell....what is wrong with music today.

I used to not mind rap/hip hop, but Eminem is the only 1 i respect these days anyway..

Although I can't stand the image.

Nup i could never get in2 Aussie hip-hop it's just not right we should stick to what music we do best and that definately isn't hip-hop. Another thing that isn't right is when all of the people who are trying 2 act black try 2 become rappers it never works if u wern't born black then get over it!

lufc618
14 Dec 2003, 21:42
If u actually looked into the hip hop scene in Australia u will find that no one trys to act like a black. If u listened to some of the songs and when they freestyle u will find that a lot of them diss people like 50 cent and people like that.

You clearly have not heard much 1200 Techniques then, let alone had the opportunity to be blown away by what a world class live hip hop act they are. These guys are awesome... and Australian.

As much as I hate hip hop,the aussie hip hoppers are quite good (yes I agree about the accents-our accents rule :D )

Keeping the accent is crucial to Aussie hip-hop.

16 Dec 2003, 22:37
Yes i agree port magpies.
Also Carlos i wouldn't say 1200 techniques are the best group to reprasent aussie hip hop with as there genre of music is not all hip hop. Check out groups like lyrical commission, brothers stoney and hilltop hoods just for some examples.
