Pettigrew growing quickly (http://portadelaidefc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=128451) by Mr. Shiell.

Pettigrew arrived from Perth on Sunday, having been Port’s fifth pick (No.46 overall) at the recent National AFL Draft.

Did he think he would be chosen earlier in the draft?

“I really didn’t have a clue,” he said. “I had started training for next year with my local club (West Perth). You just don’t know what’s going to happen. You mightn’t get picked up at all.

“Adelaide spoke to me the year before. Port Adelaide spoke to me both years.

“I’m glad I got the opportunity to come over. Port’s a great club, a successful club with a good, long tradition. I’m just happy to be here.

“Dad (John) played a couple of games for (SANFL club) Glenelg. He was over the moon about me being drafted. He loved it.”

Pettigrew described Port’s skills session on Tuesday, and rubbing shoulders with players such as Warren Tredrea and Chad Cornes, as ‘the biggest buzz I’ve ever had’.

“It was great,” he said. “I’m sure I’ll learn a lot off them.”

Saw the Grew on the news tonight. Wolfing down all that beef and chicken must be helping cos he didn't look like the stick insect from that draft camp photo anymore. I reckon he's much more solid than Gilham was when he came over (he's probably 7 kg heavier so that's no surprise).

RFK's another seriously solid unit. If he wants to play like Hardwick, good on him - it'd hurt if he crunched into you I'm sure.

I heard a soundbite of an interview and he sounds like Adam Kingsley's brother. I agree, if he wants to play like Hardwick and `pretend he's a ruck rover' thats fine by me.

Maybe his parents were macrobiotic vegetarians and he got all his protein from mung and navy beans. So now he sneaks out for the forbidden delights of steak and chicken fillet! (he did complain it was getting expensive)

We do have a few of those already don't we ... ?

Saw Gilham in town on Friday night and hes certainly filled out quite a bit. Hes a big boy.

I never thought Sir Robert was that big but looking at him on the news the guy is a tank.
