However many times you watch this movie - it is still bloody funny.

Always look forward to Christmas with the Griswolds.

"Sh*tter was full!!" :D

I have all four National Lampoons movies on DVD... Christmas Vacation, European Vacation, National Lampoons Vacation and Vegas Vacation.

Who could forget the poor cat who nibbled on the Christmas tree lights, and ended up fried under the chair with only the hair outlining his body! :D

It is an absolute classic! It is a ritual in my house to watch it every year in December.

This wasnt the best in the series though...Vegas Vacation is easily the best and its great for watching more than once.

The absolute worst is easily wally's world, what a shytty movie

I get them all confused. I think it's the Xmas Vacation where that Squirrel goes nuts when it gets trapped inside the house and it ends up being on his back? HA!

I also found that Vegas Vacation one to have it's moments too. When Rusty is winning all those sports cars with the fake id and everyone refers to him as Mr Papageorgio.

The Christmas one is the weakest of the lot, probably why there were no more made. The first couple were absolute classics.

In '97, European Vacation was made.

I used to think this was the funniest movie of all time and hadn't watched it for years...so borrowed a copy of a friend a few months ago and sat down to watch it...I can't believe it used to have me in stitches. It's still amusing...mildly.

I have found with most people, these are movies you either really love or can't stand. Much like most of Chevys movies.

Personally, I get a good laugh everytime i watch them, but I make sure I don't watch them more than about once a year, so it's at least a bit fresh.

I think I saw an ad for Funny Farm being on this week. I always thought of that Funny Farm could have been a Griswold story (ie Clark and Ellen move to the country), but despite not really being Griswol, I still think it's got some good laughs in it.

The thing I like about Chevy (his Clark Griswold character especially) is that he plays such cornball, hacky, bumblegum chewing, baseball cap and sneaker wearing, All-American yanky-doodle dandy.
This is especially relevant in European vacation.

Clark Griswold is everyones nightmare American. The Vacation movies are just Americans taking the **** out of Americans - and that can't be a bad thing can it ? :D

It is quite fitting that I let some of you know something very few Australians do, there is another movie in post production now - This copied from the internet movie database -

Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure (2003) (TV)

Directed by
Nick Marck

Writing credits (WGA)
Matty Simmons (written by)

Plot Summary: Though Eddie's fired right at Christmastime, his boss sends him and his family on a South Pacific vacation

It is a television movie and I believe it is being screened in the U.S over xmas. Chevy Chase is not in it and neither are most of the original actors. Will keep a lookout if it is available for purchase from the U.S as I highly doubt we will see it on tv for some time. Maybe Foxtel though.

1985 it was.

The first one (Wallyworld) was made in 1983. Easily the best one, although all have their moments.

Ahh that should get rid of the murky aftertaste of beer, spending time with my family and beer.

Trapped in a house with my family and Chevy Chase. Sounds like a movie idea. ;)

Why isnt it on xmas eve or even 23rd or 22nd? Who realistically is going to leave their xmas celebrations to sit and watch it?

No. Most people have 2 sides of the family to go and see. Normally, one lot for lunch, the other for dinner.

Is it just me or is this new 'Serena' chick from neighbours a dead lookalike of the daughter in the first Vacation film?
