Here would be my lineup for the Wizard Cup

B. T.Callan M.Scarlett D.Foster
HB. J.Rahilly T.Harley C.Enright
C. B.Moloney J.Bartel P.Koulouriotis
HF. A.Mackie M.McCarthy G.Ablett
FF. D.Haynes C.Mooney S.Byrnes
R. D.Loats J.Kelly P.Chapman
Int. K.Tenace C.Thurley J.Corey H.Playfair K.Kingsley D.Johnson W.Slade

Its time Geelong used this competition to test out these younger players instead of trying to win it, when ussually they bomb out in the first week of the competion. Id much rather see them try out these players and bomb out rather then maybe winning 1 or 2 games fullstrength.

So is this topic 'Best Team For 2004' or 'Team that should play Wizz Fizz Cup' ?

You've certainly nailed the 'bombing out' part on the head.

Considering the draw we got for the Wizz Fizz Cup, (having to travel to Cairns again) we'll either bomb out against Port or whoever we play the following week because the players will be absolutely knackered from the travel and climate, like they were in the Collingwood semi final this year. Therefore, we may as well play the kids and see how they go.

It goes without saying you have to play a good blend of the new players with the more experienced players.

It's always good to win, and because we're all hungry for footy at that time of year, there is a lot of emphasis placed on winning by supporters.

But even if we do lose, there are plenty of other opportunities for players to gain match fitness and game experience, with AFL practice games and Intra-Club matches, to name a few.

Then again, it’s not the end of the world if the young players don’t get a game in the Wizard Cup. Although it’s great exposure, they still have a full season of VFL – and maybe even AFL – to get established… and a whole career ahead of them.
