View Full Version : Geelong supporters Fantasy Footy team
As most of you are aware, there is a fantasy footy competition on BigFooty where the users are the players. If you don't know about it, head over to the board, which is located under the General Talk boards.
It requires virtually no input from the users other than to specify their preferred position. All the games are randomly played through the Q-Basic computer program.
Anyway, I am offering all Geelong fans, whether they are in other teams or not to see if they are interested in joining the first Geelong team in its inaugural season which will commence in the coming months.
There will be 28 (I think) positions available. Once we have a team a team name and all other details will be voted on etc.
So if you are keen, post a reply stating your preferred position, and, welcome to the club!

I'll have a crack in the Ruck, maybe then I don't have to inflict my up and under punts on the forward line. Second choice would be on the wing.
We might need to merge with another small team board or use Scarlett Pimp's aliases to get a team though.

Rizzo, I don't run the comp and haven't used QBASIC since Year 10! It is done by Deestroy and he posts the game details on the board in a separate thread.
Geelong_Falcons, you can go in it. Gender isn't an issue. Just name your position.

This is a really good idea Catman, and I hope other teams do a similar thing and take over from the existing teams.

OK, there is still the back pocket and rover positions left the starting lineup. But there will be 4 bench spots and 6 squad positions also left. If you are an emergency don't worry because like any side, injuries, suspensions and form will play a key part in how I pick the side.

Just a side note. If you are changing teams from another to this team make sure u inform the captain of your old team.
I just want to make sure all the Gellong supporting Hurricanes know i am very happy for you to join the new Geelong side for the next season.

I will also join this new Geelong team, although I'm currently captaining the Hurricanes into the finals and hopefully the Grand Final. Having our own Geelong team is a great idea Catman, especially if we can get all our regular posters involved, (JUBJUB come on down!) and will allow me to concentrate on other things on here besides captaining a team. :)
One thing I have noticed though, (and I sent you a PM to tell you this) is that you need to make sure no banned/booted users are included in the team, as per the Sweet FA FAQ's, otherwise that will cause problems with having to delist them.

A. Your player remains on the team list for this season. At end of season, banned players MUST be delisted. Even temporary bans. Once a ban is listed, you are again available for selection (any club as in the Q/A "How do I join a team". Tough luck for a team that drafted you, but, they should have done psychoanalysis on their prospective draftees!
Anyway, I've been doing pretty well as the rover for the Hurricanes this season, but am happy to play anywhere the team requires me to play.

Nah, i hope we can give you premiership glory before you leave us for blacker pastures:) Im glad to see a geelong team starting, i would love for ALL teams to have their own side.
Catman just a note, the program used to run the games was written AGES ago and only codes for 2 interchange players per game, so 18 onfield and 2 bench equalling 20 per game.

I (as you may know) run the Fighting Furies Football Club. Just want to welcome you on making it to the 'Big Time'. This isnt a game as such and a lot of stress is put onto teams as they make a charge to the finals..

Squads are 25 players, and each week a team of twenty players is selected. This consists of a starting 18 and a bench of two, that was the AFL system when the game was written..

Catman, how about getting GFC MAD! to join the new Geelong team?? He is Lemme from Cats Claw, and is the only Hurricane-based Cat who is yet to join... could be a good signing. :)
