Management company Elite Sports Properties has been awarded a three-year contract to co-ordinate major events for the Richmond Football Club, as well as capitalise on the Tigers' iconic Punt Road Oval.
The deal will focus on the ground being used for a number of functions during grand final week, including a yet-to-be-confirmed grand final day function.
Tigers chief executive Ian Campbell said: "We have been working hard to leverage the fantastic asset and club icon that is Punt Road Oval, and we look forward to working with ESP and the AFL on what is the biggest week in the nation's No. 1 sporting code."
Since joining the Tigers this year, Campbell has been keen to develop the use of Punt Road Oval.
Shortly after taking up his position at Richmond, Campbell said Punt Road Oval was underutilised and should be the centrepoint of the club's activities all year round.
Richmond is looking at ways to use the ground during the Boxing Day Test in 2004 and is also well advanced in negotiations with a concert promoter to stage a large live rock concert there next year.
This year, it was used by the Wallabies as a training ground during the rugby World Cup.
"This alliance will give our supporters the best possible experience with Richmond events, while, at the same time, delivering a substantial benefit to the club's bottom line," Campbell said.
