.. Aaron Fiora and Greg Tivendale next year.
Fiora has the skills but doesnt get enough of the ball and maybe not enough game time to go with that. We know that he is due for a good year and if its not next year then its probably going to be at another club.
Tivvers is one of my favourite players. Underrated he is and I dont think some supporters understand how valuable this guy is. He will rise next year and from being in the top 10 he will be top 5 IMHO.
I really rate Tivendale. He is a player barely even noticed sometimes and may not get the contracts that Richo, Campbell, Brown, Johnson etc get but I think hes as good if not better then some of those I mentioned.
Who do you think will shine next year? Any comments on who I think will rise is fine.
Go Tiges!
Last year was a big one for Tivver's. Previously I had described him as a one trick pony - nothing more than a flashy receiver with a thumping left boot. This was turned around last year where he started to win a bit of the hard ball and even took some defensive contested marks!
Fiora should be about to explode now! So far he has been underwhelming but he is slowly getting stronger and starting to play with a bit more purpose. Play him at HBF or on the wing and give him the whole field to run into. He is at his most damaging when at full pace and running the lines. All he then has to do is thump it long to the full forward line.

Newman will improve the most, he is just starting to show what he has to offer, and there will probably be an important on ball run for him by the end of the year.
Fiora looks like he will improve next year, he defiantly has the skill, lets hope Danny gives him a fair go.
If Pettifer doesn’t improve then I don’t want to see him back at the club again, we had so high hope for him and he hasn’t shown us nothing in return.
Schulz should start to play more footy next season, probably still to young to do anything incredible, but I will be expecting to see more of him next year.

Brad Ottens - injury free and a full pre-season 2004 is the year. they say he will spend most of his time in the ruck - I reckon a big year is in order.
Chris Newman - if he improves as he did in 2003 he should be able to spend some time in the mid-field. I am of the opinion he will improve further.
Aaron Fiora - I must say I was slightly disappointed that Fiora did not appear to have put on weight, muscle, beef (call it what you will) when I attended the final training night (unlike Coughlan and Zantuck). Having said all that - he did show signs in the last few games of 2003 - in the immortal words of a former PM - "it's time Aaron, it's time" :D

I myself hope that everyone at RFC has a great 2004 but we know that it wont happen. I think our talls need to stand up and our young players need to be firing. Everyone doesnt have to have skills just gotta do there job.

Id like to see the supporters stand up, really dissapointing going to see one of our games and seeing only 25,000 there .
But i also think Newman will improve more.
Aaron Fiora is a waste, we could have picked up pavlich instead of this toothpick:mad:
rodan will be the big improver

Yeh but if we did pick up pavlich trust me frawley would have left him in the one spot. I dunno but yeh it should be good in 2004

It would be great if we all had the benefit of hindsight. Fiora is not a waste, yet has been disappointing. He can still be a very good player for us. I expect him to improve in 2004 due to greater experience and confidence. He certainly already has the skills and speed.
The other players I expect to rise are Krakeour and Newman, and hopefully Rodan (he's still young). Tuck could be the surprise packet, and Zantuck should continue to improve.

Fiora is beautiful to watch in full flight and has some silky skils but definately needs to add muscle in order to become a premier player.
Tivva is also one of my favourites but needs to work on his right foot. He rarely kicks on the right and the opposition exploits this weakness at times. A brilliant player thought and is in for a big year!!!!
Our biggest concern at this stage is obviously our backline and with Gaspar coming back from a knee, we really dont have that key position backman to handle the big opposition forwards. I can see Zantuck and Newman improving further and Chaffey being the chief down back but strength is a problem.
GO TIGES!!!!

If given the choice of just one player that I'd want to improve, the one I'd pick is Rory Hilton.
If he could get back to his best, he'd be really dangerous, and a great foil for Richo and Brown across the forward line.

Not many on this site consider Hilton to be a good player, but I can recall about 3 years ago Hilton having some very good games off half-back and wing. If he can have a good run with injury, and get his confidence back, there is no reason why he can't be a regular member of our starting 18.

It was the year 2000 or 2001 when i was sitting down the bottom of the great southern stand watching Richmond play the bulldogs, we got thrashed by 40 points that day, but i do remember seeing hilton playing really good footy.

Tivendale - can be explosive and damaging off half back or wing, if he improves again on last year, watch out
Newman - some work in the gym and more speed and he could give enormous drive from the last line, could be a key contributor
Krak - need 50 plus from the Krak this year, andf more run in the middle of the ground. loves a bit of the hard stufff and is aalways at the bottom of the pack, time to step up son.
Richo - give us what you have promised for so long, please just once!
Ottens - this is the year. His stocks are dwindling and his reputtatio is being tarnished. time to hit the big time.
Hilton has only ever played good footy when he was converted into a tagger. And then they stopped him him playing there because he kept getting reported. And I loved it.
But he has never performed in the forward line, and lacks enough responsibility to play in the back line because he keeps wandering forward and forgets to man up.
This is Brad Ottens year for me. He has so much talent but never really produced it for us consistently. If he doesnt do the business this year, it means his hearts not in it at this club. Because we all know he's good enough to be a match winner on his own.
Brad Ottens
If kept in the ruck for most of a game - big enough to dominate hit outs, agile and skilled enough to win the ball and take marks going forward or dropping back.
Will win B & F if injury free and is the number 1 ruck.

One of Hiltons highlights to date is the shirtfront to that little maggot Byron Picket vs Kangaroos ina forgettable match at the SCG a few yrs a go, knocked him silly and cost Hilts a couple of weeks

Living in Sydney, I went to that woeful game, flogged by 70, crowd under 10K.
Remember the Tiger fans there giving it to the team ast they went back to the rooms under the Brewongle Stand.....
