I know this guy done a knee and all but is he quality or what. I mean is he the kind of kid that would have went top 20 if he had not done his knee. Also he seems really small for AFL football 172cm, does anyone think he will play senior footy. I hope he does but what are the chances???

Rookie list means he will get valuable time in the VFL, only from there can we gauge how he will go, and if he is up for the big smoke.

I don't know too much on him though.

He's a good kid, would like to think Geelong will upgrade him from the rookie list when the time is right. Size apart, the kid's a genuine top 10 draftee in many people's opinion.

Put it this way Shannon Byrnes played on the ball for the bushrangers in 2002 while Allan played on the ball for the Falcons. James allan was twice the player Shannon was that year ave 33 possies and more than a goal a game. The question is what has the year off done to him?

When Byrnes does get a game, hopefully this upcoming season, where do you think Bomber will put him? Will they exploit his pace and let him run off the wing or use him as a potential goalsneak?

He'll play where his body will allow him to play...Most likely on the wing.

So who did you have in mind of 'hopefully' suffering a long term injury? That's the only way Shannon will be eligible to play this year.

Someone who isn't that important to the line-up and who's long term injury would not affect the club dearly. Chambers would be a candidate, yet one gets the feeling if Chambers was out on long term, then Geelong would promote Jeff Smith to the list to cover for Chambers. Another player I wouldn't cry over missing the entire season is Will Slade. I like the kid, yet if someone has to make way for Byrnes through sustaining an injury, I feel the loss of Slade would not be significant. I'd rather have Byrnes than Slade in the side anyday (Sorry Will).

Wow, dont let will slades biggest fan see this, i forget their username, oh well.

From what i hear from Hawthorn friends this question is already answered. They reckon loats is big time injury prone...

Didnt Jimmy Allen pick up 50 possies in a u/18 game?

I assume you're talking about Healy. I have nothing against Slade, I'd rather him in the team than some other blokes. But fact is I, and many others, would prefer Shannon Byrnes in the team in preference to Slade.

If Loats goes out long term, then Chambers would move to back-up ruckman and I suspect Smith would get the nod for a call-up from the rookie list should Blake be considered not ready.

Oh, and I wouldn't be too surprised if Jimmy Allan did pick up the pill a hefty 50 times. The kid's a gun

Why pick on Will Slade who, let's face it, has done nothing wrong, when there's a dud just round the corner in David 'Bloody' Johnson?

My thoughts exactly, same goes for Jimmy Rahilly

Amen.

Although, admittedly, I'm not a fan of Will Slade.
