View Full Version : Steve Waugh and suspicion

Am I just being suspicious or is this series working out a little too nicely for Steve Waugh's finale? One all going into the last test, at Waugh's home ground, and a great chance for him to cap it all off with a gritty hundred and some supreme series clinching glory. Plus Cricket Australia can guarantee some hefty gate receipts (such as they are for a small ground like the SCG). The Indians collapsed in Melbourne a little too nicely for my liking, smells too much of things being manufactured.
If India are 3 for 300 odd then all out for less than 400 I'm rigning up Paul COndon myself...

hmmmm me thinks its just you :)

far far from the first time, and far far from the last time a team has been 3/300 and failed to make 400.

You are being completely ridiculous. I guess you also believe Neil Armstrong's moon landing took place in a hollywood film studio?

Fact is, the series has been a classic sporting contest.

The Indian collapse in Melbourne was in line with what pretty much everyone expected before the series started. Only thing was they had been exceeding expectations up to that point.

In Adelaide, Australia's batsmen scored a truckload in the first innings and bugger all in the second. That's cricket.

If Australia were leading 3-0 you'd be complaining that all the focus was on Waugh instead of on the contest. Now that there is a contest you're complaining that it's been rigged to put the focus on Waugh.

As far as gate receipts go, the SCG will be packed to the rafters for this one, whether it's 3-0, 0-3, 1-1 or anything else.

Most salient fact is that I dislike Steve Waugh and I am happy to invent conspiracy theories around him to maintain and justify my hatred...
Nice to see my SCG barb got through though... ;)

They could sell out all five days and it wouldn't make up for their pathetic showing at the last Test match.

But for this one, there will be a crowd.

I reckon God must be in on your conspiracy as it rained to cause a draw in Brisbane.

Far be it from me to defend the Sydney public, but the blame lies solely with Cricket Australia. Sydney shouldn't have had 2 tests, simple. (And no, I don't think Melbourne should have either.)

Who's going to pay good money to watch Zimbabwe?

And on a sorta related matter, Robert Mugabe can go and get f*****. The sooner he's assassinated the better.

Then Zimbabwean people and cricket might have a chance.
