Is there a nicer, more humble man in world cricket?

Really admire the man, plays the game the way it was intended.

Agree completly.
It is hard not to admire any of the Indians.

Yeah, most of the Indians are of the humble persuasion, although I don't really warm to Harbajhan. There's something about appealing for ****ing everything that really ****s me...

Even Ganguly holds a bit of my respect, strangely enough. He's uncompromising, even when the entire cricket world thinks he's a douche.

I think Ganguly's become a fantastic captain. I think there have been some things in the past that have made him a bit unpopular though. Didn't he send the 12th man on for himself in a tour match once when he wasn't even injured? So he could put his feet up? I may be wrong. I don't think he'd do anything like that anymore anyway.

On the subject of the thread, I think the Indians are fantastic, humble, confident and well adjusted sportspeople. Full of class. You compare them to some NBA and NFL players in the US and are thankful that we don't have an ego circus in cricket and (even footy for that matter) like they do in the states. It was a disgrace when Tendulkar got booed on Boxing Day. I suspect I'll be telling my grandkids I was lucky enough to see him play once, I wouldn't want to say I booed him. (even if he did go for a duck)

I must admit that Australia (players) have improved their attitude much more of late as well. (Though we are getting Warnie back soon and possibly McGrath) Lee is perhaps the only one who needs to tone down, a bit of celebration after a quality wicket is good, but when you bowl Agarkar after conceding 200 runs you may want to tone it down a bit.

he got booed cause the crowd were disapointed more than anything id say. everyone who goes to the test wants to watch him bat and for him to cop a golden blob was just really disapointing

They boos came when he came out to bat. His dismissal was met with rapture.

His captaincy has certainly improved but it doesn't change the fact that he's still a prIck !!

Dravid is also the best test batsmen in world cricket at the moment IMO.

Gangools has gotta learn to stop blinking all the time - he looks like a nutter - a rich one at that.

More inciteful comment. You are a wealth of BS aren't you?

I don't remember that. If he was booed it wasn't loud, that's for sure. Just a few morons who feel the need to boo the opposition no matter who they are

Then you must hate Glen McGrath then. He has the tendency to over-appeal.

The Indians were absolutely wonderful with fans and autograph hunters in Adelaide. They would sign anything for anyone, sadly in stark contrast to the Australians.

I think all the indians are excellent. I love watching Tendulkar bat, i've always wanted to see him make a hundred to tell the grandchildren (and the one time i saw him he fell 7 runs short i think), and i think Laxman and Dravid are terrific.
Believe it or not, i am passing up on watching Australia this summer just to see the Indians play Zimbabwe.

Ganguly is the exception. Great player (not that his average backs that up) but a real idiot.

I can see by most of the posts in this thread that alot of you don't have foxtel and didn't see the way the Indians behaved the last time Australia played in India. If you had, you would know that India behave completely different when playing away from home. Thats maybe why they havn't won an away test series since 1986.

Ponting and Lara are streets ahead IMO, but i would have Dravid in the top 5.

Doesn't have the strokes of the other two, but has amazing concentration and discipline.

Surely you cannot possibly include Rahul Dravid is that sweeping statement.

The guy is a cricketing saint, seriously.

I would say Gilchrist is a cricketing saint. Only player in the world that will walk when out. And I don't mean like Sehwag who walked in this test when nearly edging to first slip. I just wish Gilly wouldn't walk in tests. Save for it one dayers.

I didn't think he was anything special...and had never thought he was any good at all...and that he was just a bits and pieces man. Then I saw his average and career batting graph! Oh how wrong can you be. He is such a great player who has been hiding in the shadows of Sachin Tendulkar...even though his record suggests he is as good as him.

Not only humble, but can bat.

Lara has always walked.
Tendulkar has too.
