Never underestimate the great fighting collingwood spirit
never ever forget.

Many Port supporters once had Collingwood on their list of Black and white clubs that they followed.

i.e.
Port Adelaide
Colling wood
Swan Districts
etc etc

It wasnt until 1990 that Collingwoods casting vote was sufficient to hold up the AFL from allowing Port into the AFL, pending further talks and negotiations that we all realised our illusion of Collingwood being 'Brothers in Arms' so to speak, was shattered..

It was what it had always been...them against us .

It was no coincidence that Ports first game in the AFL after winning their last SANFL G.F. in 1996 was to be against...Collingwood.

Port are now forging their History and tradition in a new league...

No longer the Magpies, their predominantly Black and white strip and their logo show exactly from what heritage they came....

Saturday night.....will continue to foster a new AFL tradition..the clash between the magpies..Old and New, Power V Magpies a rivalry that will seem 130 years old yet be fresh at the same time...


let the tradition continue...Port for mine !

If the crowd begin to chant " Who are the Magpies "? they wont be meaning Collingwood !
