This will make me very unhappy Brett Lee playing one day cricket but now that he will be given an opportunity (yes another one) he will slaughter the Zimbos (who couldn't) and will carry on like an idiot thinking he is great for getting out people that couldn't get a game in most state sides second 11. There will be articles saying he has silenced his critics, but when will the selectors learn that getting wickets against teams that are pathetic and getting smashed against good teams doesn't make you are fast bowler that should play for Australia?

Absolute bullshit.
This is the same Brett Lee who:
a) Was named player of the VB Series this time last year, after he destroyed both England and Sri Lanka time and time again.
b) Took more wickets than any other Australian at the WC, and was 2nd to Chaminda Vaas as leading wicket taker of ANY country.
c) Has averaged 18 with the ball in the past 12 months with a good economy rate of 4.4.
d) Has averaged 21 with the ball since his ODI debut.
e) Is ranked the 6th best ODI bowler in the world.

yeah i think ppl have to seperate Brett Lee from his test match form, cos when it comes to one dayers, there is no question his place is earnt.....and yeah he should run right thru the zimbos.....and I hope he does too.

This is NOT the same Brett Lee.
This Brett Lee is
1. Bowling nearly 10kmh slower
2. IMO either came back too early or was forced to bowl too many overs after injury in the Shield game leading into the test series
3. Didnt have quality bowlers such as McGrath and Gillespie (in Melbourne) putting pressure on the top order
4. Has no confidence whatsoever. That is reflected in his soft batting which is usually pretty good.
Brett Lee needs to go back to shield cricket, NOT go to Sri Lanka where his bowling will be even more ineffective in an attempt to try and rediscover what got him into the Australian side, or discover a new way he can become effective.

I agree ... and it's nice to hear something positive about Brett Lee for a change.
Apparently you aren't allowed a couple of bad matches these days. I'd like to know how some of the posters on this forum react if their kid spills some milk on the carpet ... they'd probably lock him in the shed and throw away the key.

As far as Test Cricket goes, 97 wickets at in excess of 38 runs per wicket over 2 and a half years is more than a couple of bad matches.

One Day cricket's a bit easier for fast bowlers, you bowl at the death and batsmen were trying to score runs and would get out. Someone like Brett Lee who has a good yorker will always get wickets in One Dayers at the death, but it doesn't necessarily mean your test match form would be great
Let's have an example, Jimmy Anderson, very good in the ODIs, but absolute rubbish in Test matches, inaccurate, impatient, tries too much different stuff.
Lee's exactly the same.

Test Cricket - He needs to return to Pura Cup level...and perform consistently there for a matter of more than 2 matches.
One Day Cricket - He should have been in the team for the first match of this VB series.
Brett Lee is still one of the best bowlers in the world in one dayers. Period. Even if he is back from surgery and was bowling slightly slower in the tests, the one day arena is a whole new ball game. He can afford to bowl faster - and therefore even more devastatingly - in one day cricket because he will not be bowling for as long as he may be forced to in tests.
IMO The simple fact is that he should have been in for the first one dayer...same as Damien Martyn because they are both better at the one-day form of the game. Even if Martyn hasn't performed yet...and even though I can't stand him...he will come out and bat well in this series. Same as Brett Lee.
