View Full Version : Phone call from membership dept.

While I was in the shower tonight, the Dockers membership dept rang. My old lady answered and they told her that the Dockers are trying to get members to sign their mates up. No surprise there, but what they told her next sounded a tad weird. If new members and current ones are signed up for this year and the next two years after that they will become life members (her words, not mine) and will therefore be guaranteed a seat at all home games after 2007.

Apparently, they reckon that in the future memberships will exceed Subi's capacity and members will have to go into some kind of lottery (or another way of allocating tickets) so that everyone has a chance to go to a game. The only ones that will definitely have a seat will be the members that were signed up from 2004 onwards.

Has any other members received this call yet or is mum going batty? Is anyone aware of such a system in place at other clubs and do you think it is fair? I heard from someone that the Eagles have/had some kind of waiting list for members wanting to get allocated seats, sort of a first in best dressed system (which I think is better).

Comments.

I think your old lady has been smoking the wacky weed. If the Dockers get to the stage where they sell out there seats it will be the case of 1st in best dressed , and the rest get in the queue

Usually it works that you have a certain date to renew, and if you don't, then your seat goes to the next name on the waiting list. As long as you renew by the cut off date, you keep your seat for next year. Keep signing up and you keep your seat for life. I guess that's what she was trying to explain. It's a problem i'm sure the club would be glad to have.

Haven't received the call myself so it is quite possible your wife is off her nutter.

Saying that though, you'd think they'd start thinking about whacking a few extra stands around Subi if it got to the point where both clubs were constantly getting 40 thousand people a game, rather than refusing people a seat.

did this 'old lady' of yours end the story with "and you were there, and you were there, and you were there" and "toto too?"

id hate to say it but i think evil witches and hurricanes may be involved in this.

i cant see the dockers MD phoning each and every person up....they'd probably be writing letters.

and obviously they havent budgeted for whats known as 'stadium redevelopment'.

of course the way some insane architect designed subi oval (lets blame the eagles) redevelopments couldnt really go too far.

Whens the deadline for Fremantle membership renewals for 2004? For the Eagles the deadline was mid November with all the membership packs/cards sent out in time for Christmas

It was originally December 15 but I believe that because of the backlog that it was extended.
