I bet Damien Martyn is watching with interest. And knocked over by Denton 2 balls later without adding to his score, 3/29 since I posted before, Seccombe on 3, Noffke yet to score, Philipson out for 5, Hopes 14 and Love 100

6/289 from 99 overs at stumps, Seccombe 11 and Noffke 19
Jamie Cox has bowled 6 overs for 19, when was the last time he bowled?
Good to see Damien Wright put in yet another strong performance on day one. 3 more wickets to add to his tally which is already leading the country at domestic level.

Queensland declare their innings closed at 8/400, Noffke maintaining his awesome form with the bat with 46.
I think these guys are a huge danger for the Shield.

NSW wont win the shield, not with their best 11 playing for Australia or injured.

I agree. But um, what's that got to do with this thread?

Tassie 2/52
Plenty of pressure on Shane Watson to make a score under pressure from a quality bowling attack.

Wouldn't be the first time this season.

With 4.3 overs to go, Tassie 3/167 with DiVenuto 66 and Dighton 3
Watson caught behind off Dawes for 53
Run rate 2.51 is pretty pathetic really, I can't see Tassie winning this one outright

why so little interest in this?
tas 402/4 at tea
DJ Marsh 80* (109)
MG Dighton 127 (209)
125.6 Hauritz to Dighton, SIX, a big six over midoff
125.5 Hauritz to Marsh, one run, paddled to deep midwicket
125.4 Hauritz to Marsh, no run, sweeps fine
125.3 Hauritz to Dighton, one run, hit to longoff
125.2 Hauritz to Dighton, SIX, hit high over midoff
125.1 Hauritz to Dighton, SIX, hit over cover and over the boundary for 6
And have declared, Marsh denying himself the chance for a ton.
After being painfully slow early, Tassie really cranked it up towards the end - their innings was only 5.3 overs longer than Queensland's.
130 odd overs to go in the match, still time for a result.

A) no Queensland fans and b) Tassie don't exactly capture the imagination (Zeke aside).

I am one of the few QLD fans but they have not had a good season. I am cheering for the VICS for the rest of the season instead.
My predicition is a Vic vs. Tassie final @ MCG

That would be my dream final, certainly don't want to play Queensland.
Good to see Watson finally back at the bowling crease, he's picked up Love and Law already.

Queensland 4-99 and in plenty of trouble.
What odds they are again saved by the lower order?

From a Victorian point of view, who do we want to win this match? Tassie are much closer to us than QLD, but IMO QLD would be a much more dangerous opposition in a final (given that we make it that far). A draw is probably the best result for VIC, but Tassie should really win it outright from here.

I am sure that will be the way the cards will fall- QLD have being terrible all season and probably don't deserve to be in the final. As long as the Vics host it, I will travel down to see it.

I want a draw, but if someone has to win it, i'd prefer Tassie.
Obviously letting them closer is a risk, but i faith in our boys to get a couple of outrights against SA in the next few weeks.

Queensland 4/155
Obviously taking it slow to eat up some time (which is a sound strategy). If they can get to lunch without losing a wicket, they will have a platform to at least set a decent target.
Still got some batting to come with Seccombe, Noffke and Hauritz.

Given Maher's comments regarding Tassie's first innings scoring rate, I would have expected better. I guess his 'commitment to achieving a result' has faded now he's staring down the barrel of defeat.

By strong, I expect you mean Qld cant lose the game, because there is no way in hell can they win the game, which would suit Vic and Tas supporters brilliantly I would have thought

I'd say they are staring down a first innings defeat and a drawn match. Not much to write home about.

According to cricinfo, the match has been called off due to rain with Tassie 1/8 chasing 320 and 30 overs left after Downton cleaned up Qld's last 4 batsmen for 10 runs. Philipson remained not out on 101.
Watson's return: 11 overs, 2/31 and 53 with the bat

Wow. They managed to avoid defeat, but still gave up valuable first innings points to Tasmania, and batted out a boring draw, finally setting an impossible target of 300 off 30 overs... What an inspiring leader Jimmy Maher is...

Just read that Jimmy Maher bagged the Tassie for slow batting and killing the game !!! I would have thought that having an opponent 4/402 in their first Innings forfeits your rights to a victory. Tassie saved Qld from an embarrassing loss by amazingly declaring at that score, still keeping Qld in the game rather than getting another quick 150 and putting them under REAL pressure. When will teams learn that other teams (unless they are bottom and have no hope unless for a few contrived results) ahead of them on the ladder ( in Tassies case 2nd spot) are not going to just hand outright victories to you. Taking more than 4 wickets in the 1st Innings might have helped.
