I think he's over the hill

12 0ff 20? The man's getting old, this might be his last summer.

With all the Brett Lee/Martyn fuss he's been flying under the rader

Not any more...

I reckon the selectors will most likely persist with Bevan… his past heroics still get him over the line at the selection table.

Geez, i think Clarke can play a similar role now. Thus opening up at least one more spot!!

As shown by his stupid rush of blood just then

Nobody's gonna come into replace Bevo. Before tonight his ODI average for the season was 47.66. He made 41n.o his last innings, and I think having an average 8 runs higher than Viv Richards might have given him a few browny points just quietly.

2 or 3 bad innings isn't a concern, he is a champion, most people choose to ignore that fact cos they don't like him

I laughed when Healy went on for about 5 minutes about how Clarke had got a single, now Bevan was going to get one, put the pressure back on the bowlers early in the over, rotate the strike, he does it so well etc etc.

Dot ball.
One.
One to Clarke.
Dot ball.
Out.

Good prediction Healy. Put the bowlers under heaps of pressure.

Bevan is safe for now. He probably will be eased out of the team in a few one-day series - giving time for another youngester to earn his spot, similar to Michael Clarke. Most likely it will be Watson.

Michael Hussey, Dave Hussey, Shane Watson, Hodge, hell...even North could do a better job than he's been doing lately:D(Forgive me my WA Bias)

Can't see Watson being the replacement, the selectors will want a decent batsmen. My vote goes to Michael Hussey. If they want someone younger, than Marcus North.

Well, in the past 18 months the Aussie top 3 batsmen had been so powerful the middle order could never really get much of a hit, bt if the top order collapses and they need someone to help them to bat out the 50 overs for them, the selectors probably still think Bevan's the man.

You wouldn't happen to be from WA would you?

Katich I think would be best suited to replace Bevan (and Martyn for that matter), his accumulating style of play would be a good contrast to the Clarke/Symonds method of attack.

Don't think Katich is suited to the opening position, was rather wasted tonight. Might as well have had Ponting opening.

Another concern for Bevan is that he has tended to get out to the lesser bowlers in this series.

So far he's gotten out to Sehwag, G. Flower, Ganguly and Ervine (the best of a moderate bunch).

I think the main concern for Bevan is he might actually make some runs one day and no one will notice because they will have all fallen asleep.

As usual will the media love child will be immune from criticism and get another game to attempt to boost his beloved one day average.

Drop him.

At least Bevan tried to do something last night, charging down the pitch, attempting something different to get some boundaries...probably wasn't needed this time...all we needed was one of his usual "boring" innings. Credit to Ganguly though, it was him who totally bamboozled Bevan, and would have happened to any of the other batsmen with a bowl like that.

Clarke needs to learn to keep the ball on the ground a bit more...he is a bit too cavalier at the moment.

Watson could be a good investment in the aus team, however he would need to start scoring a bit quicker.

It's more a case of we don't recognise this, er, fact.

Bevan is nothing compared to what he use to be. Last night he sucked, 12 off 20 is not good enough. But we are still winning so i
dont mind as much.

Symonds is not performing like he did either. He is struggling with the bat a little bit. Averaged 28 in India, VB series average of 33. I still think Harvey should replace him and we should have a bowling all-rounder.
