DEES RULE!

Stephen Powell, Melbourne's most consistant ball-getter of last year, is officially out for the rest of the season!

Powell admited that even after round 8 of the 2001 season he is in pain when he gets out of bed. He hasn't had a good night's sleep in 14 months and at some stage he couldn't even walk to the kitchen he was in so much pain!

Powell's brother Stuart also suffered from Osteitis pubis and it took him FOUR (yes thats right 4) years to get it out of his system.

Neale encouraged him to stay away from the club and just watch the game so that at least he can learn something. Powell is currently studying for his Masters of commerce at Deakin University.

Powell misses football and its needless to say that everyone misses Powell. The last time he did anything physical was grand-final day where he was perhaps one of melbourne's best players.

Any chance of him playing again this season is gone and while Powell is seeking just about any medical and non-medical treatment there is, so far there hasn't been any big improvment!

I would like to wish Powell and quick recovery and a quick return to football!

GO DEES! :)

Its hardly a surpirise. He has virtually been saying that the entire season. Hope he is right for 2002.

did you right the story in the herald sun as well???????? If anyone knows about these types of injuries then, you would know that they talk a while to heal. this is because they r in a VERY sensitive area of the body. so the upmost care has to be taken when treating these types of injuries. He'll be back in 2002.

I would say that if his brother had the problem for such a long time, being a family problem, it may also happen to Powell (hope not).
Remember that tall ruckman we had a few years ago (forgotten his name) he had the same problem, and after 1 yr. tried to make a comeback, but failed again, the the pubis recurring.. hope I am wrong.
