Today our injuries along with a lot of other things killed us, at least no one was injured for once  . With all our players back from injury bar Read, Sierrakowski and Prior, what is our best starting line up? Embley was good for the Eagles, though only an average player on ground, Travis Gaspar looked allright earlier. Anyway here is my team:

FB: Darren Glass, Ashley McIntosh, Chad Morrison
HB: Michael Collica, Glen Jakovich, Peter Matera
C: David Wirrpunda, Ben Cousins, Michael Braun
HF: Andrew Embley, Troy Wilson, Andrew Williams
FF: Scott Cummings, Phil Matera, Mark Merenda
R: Michael Gardiner, Chad Fletcher, Drew Banfield
In: Daniel Kerr, Dean Cox, Richard Taylor, Adam Hunter
Em: Travis Gaspar, Kane Munro

I might have missed a couple of players in there somewhere. Overall, I think that team could be competitive and would not get the wooden spoon. The way things are heading at the moment though things aren't looking good :( .

Gaspar should be in the starting line up. He had 10 posessions and 4 marks up to half-time, then for some reason KJ benched him. I would also like to see a lot more youngsters played, we have no chance of making the 8, might aswell start preparing for next year.

Roo, McIntosh, Jako, and Kemp should be rotated in and out of the squad. Humm, Buszan, Miller and Antonovich should be rotated in and out aswell. Wooden should also be given a chance, otherwise whats the point of keeping him on for the rest of the year? Might aswell promote a rookie.

I noticed you left Kemp out, did you just forget him or don't you expect him to get too much matchtime with all his injuries?

Well the way things go with injuries I think Gaspar will nearly play every game from now on. I knew I was forgetting someone, KEMPY!! I would play him off the bench though, let him come on in explosive patches.

I don't, he had a good game today. He still could be used if he was perhaps played of the bench, as D4E said, in Explosive Patches. Gaspar will get more and more game times, and a few others will come up into the team.

Kemp will retire at the end of the year definately! He won't play all the remainding games of the year as well if injury keeps up with him. If he is fit however, play him, we need some experience in the team...

I was just about to ask the same thing! :)

Maybe the Frod is just factoring in future injuries? ;) It's a mirical he and Wirra haven't missed a game yet..... (and I really hope that's not a curse on them! )

LOL First Vis misses one of our greatest players of all time in Kemp and then Frodo leaves out our best player! Frodo obviously likes Taylor though as he named him as a follower and in the centre :D Oh and Vis, no room for Jones?

Its pretty tough to call but ill give my best shot.

FB Glass McIntosh Morrison
HB Collica Jakovich Matera
C Wirrpunda Kemp Braun
HF Williams Wilson Embly
FF Matera Cummings Fletcher
R Gardiner Cousins Banfield

Int Jones Cox Kerr Taylor

Emg Hunter Gaspar Merenda

That team without a doubt could go toe to toe with any team in the league but theres a 0% chance that all of them will get on the same field together fit and firing. Pity really.

Then who's the captain of Frodo's team.
Both Kemp and Cous should definately get a guernsey.
Don't have time to do a team myself now, may do later.

Why is it that when I look at the lineups here, the team looks VERY good and strong in most areas, but when we take the field minus a few (or many half a dozen) of these players we get a whipping? A fit and injury-free WCE side would be able to challenge any team in the competition.

GoEagles:

we have talent, but as i have mentioned on quite a few occasions, that talent hasn't yet matured.

When the talent in our squad matures, we will be a very formidable opponent indeed.

Apart from myself, nobody has named Rowan Jones in there best 22? Does nobody rate him, i rate him highly and when fit should be an automatic selection in our best 22.

Are you just forgetting him or does nobody think he has what it takes?

i don't rate jones very highly. he's had plenty of opportunities (many more than chambers who deserves more of a chance) and i can't recall many good games from him. he's at the stage where he needs to start showing some improvement otherwise.

I definately rate him Jod. :) Not as a star midfeilder, but as a useful tagger who has the ability to negate a wide range of opponants. He can play in the centre when required, and is a nifty little forward (though far more reliable on the run than from a set shot).

I'd have him in my team if i was bothered to make one. :)

To tell you the truth, I haven't seen him play for so long I've kinda forgotten him at his best. His disposal needs work but I guess I always forget him.

He is a good player. You don't see him making the play much as he is busy tagging the oppositions best player, and doing a pretty good job too. I would put him in my best team.

oops yes I had Taylor in twice instead of Cuz.

My view is that we need to be planning for next year now. Clearly we won't make the finals this year. Our main priority is to build a sound defence and those intended for key defendsive positions should be given as much game time this season as possible. I am not a supporter of playing injured players and Kempy is injured and can't playout a game. Ash has proven to be a good forward in the past and should IMO see his career out there. Jako is too slow for CHB but could be a presence at CHF for another 2-3 years (hopefully his speed will come back if it is only the cricket match injury that has slowed him up and he is recovering then CHB would still be his place)

K - well im not saying he is a star midfielder or anything but he is a great tagger and can be useful at half forward. With Banners getting on a bit then he will usually always tag the best midfielder on the opposition.
