If you could poach a player from another team...who would you want???

Andrew McLeod would be my pick...the way he streams out of the centre heading for goal is amazing to watch.

Jonathon Brown - Physical CHF, 3 time premiership player and is still 21.

Matthew Pavlich or Adam Goodes.

I'm not really sure why but I think I would go for Barry Hall.

If we could bring back a former Bulldogs footballer then I would go for Templeton or Quinlan.

I think I would go for Micheal Voss.

If we could bring back a former Bulldogs footballer then I would go for Mark Cullen or shane Loveless.

Mathew Lloyd end of story. He is still young rarely out injured and kicks bags of goals.
Mid feilder are a dime a dozen. Key postion match winners in front of goals are as rare a
hens teeth...

He would bring between 30 and 50 extar goals to our club per session. That means top four.

Matthew Lloyd is the first player that comes to mind........even after time thinking about it, he's still the one I would poach.

Next would be Pavlich, J Brown, S Black and C Tarrant.

If I could bring back and ex-Bulldog of the past it would have to be EJ (although I never saw him play), then Templeton (did see him play when I was 6 or 7).

UPDATE: So far at this stage most wanted to be poached is between Jonathon Brown and Matthew Pavlich and Matthew Lloyd making a late run.

I probably have rated him a bit highly, but I do think he will be a superstar. I'd rather have him as of now than Voss.

Martin Pike, although perhaps he should be kept away from the more impressionable young players.

A younger Glenn Archer would be handy.

Hey, stop hedging your bets people. Pick one player.

J.Brown - One of those very physical CHFs, a rare breed. Still very young, but premiership experience.

Pikey is one of those players that keeps plodding along, without all the fanfare, getting the game count up, and the premiership count, and will bow out of the game with a handshake and best wishes.

And an almighty hangover and some interesting criminal charges.

Simply a legend.

A few years ago I would have said Hird or Voss but as they are getting on in age and have injuries I would have to pick Tredrea just in front of Johnathon Brown.

Then again a tough Riccuto for our midfield would be handy.

It's Lloyd for mine. A proven match winner and capable of performing well every week.

A close second would be Jonathon Brown, although I am still waiting for him to turn in some devastating performances. I think he is a very very good player (better throw in another "very" just to highlight my opinion) but i do have some concerns that in the games i have seen he does always look threatening without taking that next step of absolutely dominating. Don't get me wrong - I would have him at the WB in an instant but have you actually seen him kill the opposition for a whole game?

As much as I hate to say it I have to go with Lloyd as well. Consistantly beats his opponent and as a result kicks heaps of goals. Still young and seldom injured.

UPDATE:

Jonathon Brown is leading in the "Poach a player" award with close rivals Pavlich and Lloyd on his tail..wouldn't it be nice to have all three in our team!!!!!!!

Maddog1980
3 Feb 2004, 16:21
JB 4 sure.

Lloydy was already poached from us by essendon when they drafted him. They gave 7 players to freo so they wouldnt draft him and trade him to us, I think it was sumthing like that. We would of won in 97 98 if we had had velvet.

Spiritof82
3 Feb 2004, 16:41
J Brown would be the best pick, Lloyd may play well with Essendon where he is protected by the umpires and can use his acting to get frees in front of goal but when things don't go his way, watch him sulk, although not as bad as mummies boy Hird.

If he came to us he'd get no protection from the umpires (like the rest of our players as we aren't on the AFL's "want to keep in the competition list") and would end up either reported or spitting the dummy and leaving to go to an AFL approved money making club.

Ruckman ruckman ruckman. King preferably. Not hedging, but just say our poacher was shooed out of Geelong, I'd take Gardiner or even a one-dimensional slap merchant like Clarke or Keating. Bounding multi-skilled fellas like Goodes are all well and good, but we need a stand-up-and-belt-the-thing ruckpig.

Dunno about all this J Brown guff, he's a good young prospect but hardly the most desirable kid, let alone player. Reiwoldt has done a heap more in a worse side, and plays quite well vs the Pies unlike Brown.

If I was starting a new side, a beaut kid like Wells or a solid character like Leigh Brown would the way to go.

3 Feb 2004, 16:57
Graham Polak would have to be up there as well.

Robert Harvey apart from his age then Lloyd

Bulldog1954
3 Feb 2004, 23:20
Discounting age Lloyd, 100 goals a year would be handy. Imagine a spine of Croft/Harris, Grant, West, Rawlings, Lloyd,

If age was taken into account I'd take Pavlich just ahead of Riewoldt. I'd also take Tredrea before Brown, may not have the presence we always hear about that Brown has, but he takes far more marks and kicks far more goals, more valuable then Browns physical presence IMO.

And IMO its a tad to early to be choosing Brennan, he has only played a few games

It would have been, but it wouldn't have been in the spirit of the thread as he isn't from another AFL team. But a man who can play both ends with dashing pace and good looks would be very very handy
