I'd rather think of my comment as fact - ie, That Scarlett is the best fullback in the AFL - rather than being a stupid comment.

But hey, whatever does it for you.

(I don't know where I'm going with this)

I'd rather think of it as an opinion.

Fletch had a bad 2003 he has more class than the furry haired one sided defender from geelong. He will prove in this year.

Great, but not like he was ever going to leave, thankfully.

He is the best, btw.

Will he be on the vets list next season ?

Judging him the 'best in the league' after one decent season isn't a fact.

It's poor opinion.

This was announced 17 December 2003, what took you all so long?

Scarlett Extends Contract (http://gfc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=129562)
Geelong’s reigning best-and-fairest, champion full back Matthew Scarlett has agreed to an extension of his contract that will tie him to the club until the end of 2006.

The 24 year-old, who has played 91 senior matches, is delighted to have affirmed his commitment to the Cats.

"I have grown up with the club and believe it is time for us to take the next step," Scarlett told gfc.com.au.

"Team success is what we are after and I am excited about the season coming up. We all feel that we are on the brink of an exciting time and I want to be part of that success."

Scrlett’s father John played 183 games for Geelong, also at full-back.

Geelong coach Mark Thompson said: "Matthew displays all of the attributes that you want in a player."

"He is an outstanding player, is highly respected by his teammates and opponents. Matthew shows good leadership and is committed to winning above anything else. He is a key player for us and is a major plank in what we are trying to achieve."

Let's hope that he has a clause in his contract that deletes his match payments if ever suspended. There's no point being known as the Best Full-Back in the league if you happen to be sitting in the stands when your team requires you the most.
If he had been standing next to Tredrea in our last game, who knows how far we may have gone?!!!

he should be fined 2 weeks match payments for every week he cops at the tribunal this year. he can't be the best when he's so often suspended or pulling out last minute with some alleged injury.

if he wasn't such a brainless twit, he'd be in the leadership group. fancy playing ten years, two flags, a crichton medal in 2000 and not being worthy of a senior role. when will he ever learn?
