Skye looked quite sharp and organised. Seems as though they have worked hard on their game plans/set ups and should go into the season as flag favourites!!

Word out of SFL HQ was that Matt Duck sent his assistant out to Spotlight today to source pricing on silver ribbon. Make any conclusions out of that, as you will ;)

From what I have heard I think Oakleigh Districts and Bentleigh will be the 2 sides to beat this year. It is only early but that is just my opinion. Skye will Improve on last year which I know they were pretty dissapointed in. Southern Dragons are my smokies.

I heard that oakleigh districts made easy work of Mt Waverley 80+ points. This week they travel to Mitchem. Is that correct james1992? How did all the new recruits go?

Interesting choice of practice matches by Oakleigh Districts. For a team that has been inspiring to get back into SFL Division 1 for so long now, its puzzling why they would choose a SFL Div 3 side & an EFL Div 3 to play against in the preseason (no disrespect meant to those sides). Should be playing equal to or above themselves in my opinion, maybe a Dingley or Mordialloc side for example.

whats the general vibe about the hampton hammers? thinking of maybe having a run down here...do they have a ruckman?

Hampton is a great place to be mate, especially at this year. We're flying under the radar as they say, but there is a huge buzz around the place!:thumbsu::thumbsu: We would never say no to a Ruckman! Forget Blackrock, Peterson st is where you want to be.:D:D:D:D:D

Did Fermanis play JIMMY? And how did Arvanitis go? Geez there's a couple of ego's between those two! How will you manage to fit them into the same side?..:cool::cool::cool:

If they ever do make the step up you can guarantee Sibilia wont go coz he is the divvy 2 specialist and will not want to step up to a better grade of footy as he will get caught out.:D

EFL Div 3 is probably stronger then sfl Div 1.. Besides st.Kilda city, east Brighton, chelsea heights and st.pauls the rest of the teams are horrendous

Hilarious post vinnie. Either a great wind up or a complete lack of any idea.
Chelt played Rowville the last two years in PM's and won both. Rowville played finals in EFL Div 2 both those years.

I stopped for a bit of a look at the Chelsea Hts game yesterday, with about 12 missing, they comfortably handled Warrandyte, would of been a thrashing with a full side.

Some early tips for Round 1 to get some discussion going over the Easter break.

Bentleigh v Hampton: Bentleigh to hang on by 2 goals at home
East Malvern v Skye: Game of the round. Skye beat Mordi by 6 goals in a praccy match so that's good enough for me. Skye by 4 goals.
Southern Dragons v Black Rock: going with the new guys because of their enthusiasm & their recruiting over summer. Dragons at home by 2 goals
Oakleigh v Murrumbeena: Beena could be on the slide as they've lost a few, where as Oakleigh will be sweating on a couple clearances. Still, Oaks still have the fire power regardless so Oakleigh by 5 goals
Springvale v South Yarra: sadly it could be a long, long year for South Yarra. Springvale by plenty

Was talking with a mate, he said that a relation to Leroy jetta, possibly brother, is playing for Skye this year. Is this true? Or just smack.

bentleigh v HAMPTON .. Heard from a few boys in the demons camp that they were VERY confident they had it wrapped up this year. They lost their superstar in Fridman. but gained another in Plapp. Got bought back to earth with a spanking from Cheltnham & Heatherton. Pretty up and down pre season form, but take nothing away from last years grand finalists, they will be right up there. Our boys have had an outstanding pre season, and they are chomping at the bit to get out there! Hammers in a tight one 8 points.

east malvern v SKYE .. -Match of the Round- Sounds like East Malvern have recruited some very handy players (Hart brothers, Armstrong, Carrol), as have Skye (Hynes,Mcguiness,Tucker,Craddock). East Malvern's pre season form(Loss to FishCreek & not sure about Forrest Hill game)not quiet as good as Skye's (wins against Elsternwick,Mordialloc,GlennEira). The Panthers will be a quality outfit this year after dropping down from d1, and the Bombers are my big improvers for 2012.Should be a cracker of a game that will go down to the wire. Im tipping the bombers by 13 points.

DRAGONS v blackrock .. The dragons have done very well to get where they are (won 9 games during 2011 h/a season & won the grand final!), and will find it very tough in d2. Altough they have done an outsanding job in retaining players, havent really added any star power other then Abela (if you'd call him a star??). Blackrock narrowly escaped relegation after winning just 4 games for the year. Have lost Krieger,Marshall, Miller,Murray, Smith and have only added Harrington,Camfield,Mcdonald, and Kennedy. The boys from Keely park play an unpredictable, play on at all costs game and will be too fit and too fast for the rockers. Dragons by 27 points

OAKLEIGH v murrumbeena .. Another belter of a game. Have'nt heard much from the beena camp so just going off clearence's and word of mouth, the boys in yellow&maroon could be on the slide. Although they had a good win over Highett (apparently) and you would expect them to have beaten Lyndale in there 2nd praccy game. Regularly spotted in the best Jhonston,Kinsella,Jones & Thornton have all moved on and there's not a lot of big names in to replace them. Oakleigh on the other hand have got new players coming out of their ears (Danilovic,Isacc,Sibbilia,Margetis), wont put fermanis or arvanitis in there as im hearing they are'nt going to be cleared to playand are facing a year looking on from the sideline. With Steve Wright 'coming home' im thinking the districs are going to be in for a good year and will take the chocolates. Oakleigh by 36 points.

SPRINGVALE v south yarra .. Sprinvale are very much flying under the radar. This time last year they werent going to drop a game and were just treating the season as a short holiday in d2. 60k is alot to spend on 3rd place. This year they have lost Atkin,Challis,Rodriguez, and Forsyth. They have recruited Odachowski,Ford,Thornton and Doust. Any team with Vassalo (2011 league bnf) and Einsidel at the helm are going to be very hard to beat. From chocolates to boiled lollies, we come to South Yarra. A heart breaking 2011, just missing finals for the first time in about 5 years, coach signs then walks out with less then a month to pre season, their best player walks out (along with others), then a loss to last years wooden spooners. Lost Sheehan,Smith,Abel,Rasmussen,Cannizo,Nichola the list goes on. On the positive they have got a colts up and running with richmond central so will start to reap the benefits the next few years as the boys start to progress through the ranks to senior footy. Sprinvale to win by 86 points.

While im here i think il update my ladder prediction for 2012. The first 7 are locked in and could finish in any order, bottom 3 will fight it our for relegation. Here's how i think it will end up:
Skye
East Malvern
Hampton
Bentleigh
Oakleigh
Springvale
Murrumbeena
Blackrock
Southern Dragons
South Yarra

Predictions for Round 1:
Bentleigh by 3 goals
Skye by 5 goals
Black Rock by 4 goals
Oakleigh by 6 goals
Springvale by 10+ goals

Skye on top. They have recruited well down there but they did finish 8th last year and Black Rock who have also recruited ok beat them by 10ish goals in the last game. Why have Fermanis and Arvianitis been rejected, did they sign contracts. If those 2 are not playing it brings Oakleigh back to the field a bit. I hear Skye have knocked back 3 to CH as they have already cleared 6 players there and the SFL rule states you can only have 5 players from 1 SFL club to another. Bentleigh looked fairly sluggish against Heatherton from all reports in there practice match but don't know what they had missing. A lot of Hamptons ins are just footballers too and they have lost quite a few to retirements etc. Don't know much about East Malverns recruits (anyone have info)but they are from Goulburn Valley league so would assume they will be very strong as have the last 2 Div 1teams that have come down.Div2 looks like it will be a very tight comp. I'll have a go at a ladder.

East Malvern
Oakleigh
Springvale
Skye
Bentleigh
Murrumbeena
Black Rock
Southern Dragons
Hampton
South Yarra
