I would be concerned with your ability to quote...

About those tournaments, lets say hypthetically top 10% cash, I would be expected to cash in 1.8 or lets say 2 tournaments. Cashing in one, while annoying, is hardly a big issue.

If I had gone 100/1800 would be a far more pressing issue since those results would be closer to the mean.

While I appreciate your concern, I am relatively happy with my game at the moment, and am looking forward to not going to work tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that, or the weeks after that.

So anyway, why would Pokerstars rig the games to favour the Russians or the Canadians?

you play 21 tournaments, and cash in 1, lol... and it so happens to be the smallest one of the lot.. whilst WALTERBISH the RUSSIAN plays 2 --million dollar tournys in 3 weeks and makes over 400k... open your eyes brah, you are blinded big time.

and

isai scheinberg the owner is canadian, he just so happened to previously be a programmer at IBM... hmm canadian-programmer...

ashley were never going to agree on anything, we are both wasting our time and energy here... and by the way i dont work for anyone as well.. big deal hero...

Ash12 shoves from the HJ with an M of just over 4, around 10bb in his stack, in a turbo with 1/2 a minute remaining to the next blind level with A8o, and gets called in two spots with hands very close to the top of their range, and doesnt suck out.

you actually had 11 bb's left, and got caught trying to steal the blinds, all in was a crazy move, especially against players with higher stacks... a simple call would've enabled you see where you stood in this hand imo....

you were doing ok, and were'nt that far off chip average...

putting yourself in a position of hoping for a suck out is not good poker.. but thats cool... your the pro here!!

Im going to bed, but are you seriously advocating open limping when ITM of a turbo tournament where the average stacks are around 10bb. In particular limping to fold to a raise?

Im going to bed now (Its 7:30am) but serious LOL if true.

and bingo

what you spotted is why i suspend belief in a lot of these postings. authenticity of the hand that is posted

if he had a pair of threes, that means that the flop, turn or river were not one of the cards written down in this post. something is amiss with the cut and paste job (notwithstanding that there were at least 3 hole pairs and at least 2 of them hit a set.

similar with your stories ash

i enjoy reading them, but unless you'r gus hansen with a tape player on each hand, how on earth do you remember them so well to relive them?

it means, when people post their hands on line, as in "at the casino this is what happened, i was in 1st position i had yada yada he had yada yada he has been playing like this for an hour yada yada then the guy in 2nd position raised ra ra)

i beleive people tend to retell the story in a way that suits the need of retelling, and not always reflecting exactly what happened

(ie How T F do people remember all those hands?)

ditto poker books, some guy takes us through 30 years of hands he played at backroom poker bars across the US midwest. yeah, right.

People will often remember key hands out of a session that they thought were interesting, or that should have been played differently or whatever.

Certainly people may forget exact details but will try and construct an accurate description as possible so that they can get different peoples perspectives.

I guess anything that gets people discussing hands and theory is a good thing, rather than editing a hh to complain about how pokerstars (which would be stupid to risk its pretty great rep) is surreptitiously cold-decking people in tournaments to maximise profit.

Ash has a $109 SCOOP-L ticket for finishing top 100 in the MicroMillions leaderboard, so decides to stay inside, put on the kettle, and play some LOL donkaments...

Tournament number 1 is a misclick where I accidently buy into a hyper-turbo tournament (thought it was a standard satty to a $215 event but w/e) and I bust very first hand with Aces. Standard, what can you do

-----

Tournament number 2 ($27 SCOOP 39-L) effectively ends with someone opening for 2x. I 4.5x next in with the Aces... Folds back to him, he just jams in ~50bb. I call, he has queens and I lose on the turn. He berates me for playing bad.

Tournament numjber 3 ($109 SCOOP 40-L) is still going, but this was kinda lol...

And just busted losing a flip with 66 < AQ

Did get to play today with NachoBarbero in the $27 low 6max, looked at what tables he was playing, he was playing the $10k ME as well, which is sick when you think about it.

Played with Chad Brown in the ME, was kinda cool. I tried to 5bet bluff on one hand, he called OOP (we are 300bb deep). I actually flopped a king, checked the flop and "value bet" the turn and river and was called down by AA which was interesting.

The other hand was interesting as well. He raises pre, I call as do 3 others including one blind.

FLOP: J9x and everyone checks

TURN: 8

He bets 2/3 pot, I raise about 3.2x his initial bet, he thinks and calls

RIVER: 10

He puts me all in for around pot, I have to fold 88 though the more I think about it i find it harder and harder to believe he has to always have a queen here. This was about 20 minutes after the hand I attempted to 5bet bluff (I had K9, he was CO I was OTB in the bluff hand)

I played a few events of the series when time/sleep permitted

Was planning on playing the main event last night, was 5 tabling at 4am including the scoop 6max, by 4:30 I was single tabling the 6max with around 50bb so I thought I'd wait to register for the main event for an hour (dont mind regging for 150bb) and see what happens in the 6max because I didnt want to fire up basically a new session for the main event after being awake since 9am sunday morning

Busted the 6max basically 5 minutes later as below

Villian has rougjly 39% equity post flop so not a bad beat or anything, just a bit of a cooler to end the night after playing pretty well I thought.

Decided not to play the ME after that, really couldnt be bothered staying up all night (wouldve had to call in sick if I hadve been alive still come around 8am) and hit a wall at some point, potentially left single tabling some $22 fo or some bs

Was trying to find the MicroMillions thread but couldn't see it. Looks like there will be another edition in July, same sort of schedule as last time with 100 events in 10 days, really should allow people somewhere to sleep but July should be a good time for me so looking forward to playing it.

Hey guys, fairly new to the Poker forum. Just a quick question, has anyone seen a significant improvement in their results when they move up stakes? I was having a bit of a tough time at 0.05/0.10 (i'm a noob, i know), and getting frustrated, so i moved up to 0.10/0.25, and since then i've barely lost. Admittedly, i have only played about 2000 hands so far, but i am running about 20 BB/100 better than i was at the lower stakes (i was running negative). Statistically, my play is better across the board, i am more aggressive, winning more pots, etc.

I was just wondering if it was fairly common, especially at the lower limits?

I havent grinded NLHE cash online in a long time but from memory 25NL would probably be just as soft as 10NL. The only differene between the two would be the style of play. So to answer your question, I believe it would be quite common without being too common.

Your sample size is quite small, but if you feel comfortable and are rolled/semi rolled for it then you should stay at that level. I'm a believer that too many people get caught in the micros, trying to grind a roll from 10NL to 50NL etc. Its doable but its such a waste of time.

My suggestion would be stay at 25NL, keep working and stay at least semi bankrolled for it, start taking shots at 50NL as soon as you feel comfortable.

Woke up early this morning but didn't want to get out of bed. Trying to go back to sleep would have been futile so for the first time I loaded up PokerStars on my 3 year old iPhone. First thing to report is a 3.5" screen is not great, so I assume the experience would be much better on a SGS2/3 etc (or an iPad). I just played a cheap turbo STSNG to get a feel for the software. Unless I'm mistaken, you can only raise 2x, 3x, 4x etc. That is, with blinds at 50/100, you can't raise to 225/250/275, it's either 200/300/400. That was annoying. Everything of course was small. All the buttons, the system messages, the hand history, etc. Overall I think the software is very good but there's room for improvement.

Oh yeah, here's the last hand. I finished 2nd and got soul read for having JT or something.

You can manually enter the bet amounts to any size you want if you press the box that displays the bet amount, it'll bring up the keyboard to enter the amount

It is a hassle though
