Tips for the weekend?

I'll go for Benalla over Kyabram, Seymour over Euroa, Rochester over United, Tatura over Mooroopna, Mansfield over Swans and Echuca over Bears.

In todays Shepp News, it is only so he can serve his two match suspension at Mooroopna before the start of the VAFA season on the 21st.

Will we see a rule change? No clearances/permits for suspended players? Suspension to be served whilst listed at club where offence occurred.

Would have been better for Yze to stay at Mooroopna all along, then seek a clearance after GVFL round 2.

Euroa were too good for Seymour today, won the stoppages and their small blokes were way too quick. Well done to them, they did their homework and exploited the top heavy sluggish lions.
Euroa slipped out to a 6 goal lead early in the last quarter but Seymour could have actually pinched the game towards the end in a very exciting finish when they finally decided to start going direct.
This has put a major dent in their season with the next three games being against United, Rochy and Tat at Tat. Looking like an 0-4 start.

Similar thing with Fevola and the Glenrowan/Yarrawonga deal. Signed up with Glenrowan for 28days. He missed the first game of O&K for Glenrowan last week due to his suspension and now gets permits to play from this week for Yarrawonga O&M rd1, until when the 28 days is ended. Then he will be cleared to Yarrawonga. Sounds wrong to me.

In know its round 1 but I think this result will prove to be one of the upsets of the year. Rated Seymour with all their recruits and Euroa has only got kids and recruited poorly. I would think Euroa would be on a high for the next few weeks. I hope Euroa are competitive all year but Seymour will have to win 2 out of the next 3 to show where they are at. Poor starts usually end in tears.

United were lucky Guy Campbell could kick straight, probably missed 4 to 5 sitters dispite Guy slotting through 5. He even pasted one off while 20 out dead in front

Great game though. Rochys young guys did well and they were a man down early after their fullback did his hammy.

United never gave up but seem to run out of juice

Saw the Tat and Mooroopna game. Entertaining affair with both sides definately in the mix come Sept. Thought Blake was good and will be a asset to the Cats as the season progresses. Tats lack of depth could bite them if they sustain a run of injuries.
Reports from the Ky Benalla game were that the Ky kids were very good. Difference between the teams was that Ky had Morgan down back and Newman up front to straighten them up where Benalla lacked this sort of presence. Ky definately lacked fitness with practically the entire list cramping. Brett Morgan's game must be good news given he hasn't played for the best part of 2 years.
My mate from Benalla rated the Bombers. Newman's good, Ogden, 36 possies and not even in their best six?
Saints in for a long year.
Swans must have been bitterly disappointed with the result at Mansfield.
It will take a few weeks for the dust to settle however it appears the big 4 will be Mooroopna, Rochy , Tat and United ( not in order) with the others making up the numbers.

Does anyone have any information on a couple of East Malvern recruits from your league. Armstrong, Hart brothers. Don't know which club they are from though

If fit they will be good players-Simon Hart is one of the best kicks for goal going around for a smaller type forward. Armstrong is more of an on-ball hbf type

Tatura had a big 93pt win over Euroa. I thought Bill Hicks was our best today and Robbie Wood Euroas best but had it a bit easier after Tim Little spent the second half off injured. Good to see Benalla get a win, was expecting them to be 0-18 at the end of the season.....

Quite amazing that margin, always thought Tat would have had Euroas measure but not by that margin.
Seymour beat United by 37 points at Kings Park. 19 12 126 to 12 17 89. United obviously will improve more as their players come back in as will Seymour who weren't at full strength either. Seymours forward line was very potent and had a very good conversion rate and managed to snare goals against the run of play.
Seymour reserves thrashed United by 90 odd points which may suggest a lack of depth for them this year.

Some good games this weekend - Seymour v Rochester and United v Tatura. United wouldn't want to start the year 0-3 although their fixture gets better after this round and they'll get some injured players back.

Seymour V Rochy will give a better indication about Seymour. Should be a great game.
Think Rochy is playing better footy atm....
Rochy by 30pts
Tatura by 28pts
Mansfield by 32pts
Kyabram by 35pts
Shepparton by 27pts
Mooroopna by 60+pts

Tatura won by 24pts 11.10.76 to 7.10.52. Shep Uniteds only 2 goals in the first half from Goal Square bounces after Tom Miller ran over the line kicking out. Didnt get their first field play goal until Edwards 15min 3rd quater and kicked 3 goals late in the game to make the scoreboard look more respectable. Most impressive thing I saw from United was probably Perkovic wearing Broadbent like a glove nearly all game. My best from Tat would have to be Wellington.

Rochy had a solid 34-point win over Seymour. Mansfield flogged Echuca by 10 goals. Rochy and Mansfield play next week which should be a good game.
