Garlett is talented but his inconsistency worries me. I'm not sure I would want to spend a 1st round pick on him.

Anyone know how long Mason Shaw is out for? Will he be back for the U18 champs or later in the year in the WAFL?

Would be a pretty good forward line with Shaw, Jesse Hogan at CHF and maybe someone like Marco Paparone down there, Yarran and Garlett at their feet and Jack Martin floating around.

I was reading about the National Indigenous Championships - there looks to be more Yarran's, Garletts, Headlands, Ahchee's, Bennells and Winmars on the way from WA!! No Farmer's though, what happened to Jeff's boy Jeff Jnr (14 yo so eligible for the champs)! Has he been sidetracked by film and fame since his little movie role?

Jack Darling Mark II?

Imagine Garlett and Newman on our HF flanks together...

Let's hope he can get his off field stuff sorted..

Jesse Hogan looks a special talent love the way he goes about it.

Will end up a big midfielder 192cm a bit like mundy from freo.

Has that presence I love to see in a player, is a good athlete to go with a good footy brain.

Chris Yarran has been really disappointing this season so far.

Adam Carter is another lovely user of the footy.

Devon McPharlane has been very good in Peel's league side another with deadly footskills.

Dayle Garlett is playing league. Shannon Taylor and Shaq McKenzie are lining up in the reserves.

Shaq is in the under 18s squad and as such not eligible for selection at league level until the the 18s are over, as I understand matters.

Jesse Hogan a midfielder? Takes about 5 or more contested marks a game and has been playing part ruck and mainly at CHF. Hopefully he isn´t finished growing yet. Still underaged!

Looks like he has been named in the League squad for today's game.

Garlett has been suspended by SD for two weeks , hope he improves his discipline and make the most of his talent because at this rate he may not get drafted !

Not what I wanted to hear.

I was just saying the other day, that he was looking good and his football seemed to be on track. Thought his draft prospects were starting to get back up to first round territory.

At least it sounds like more a discipline problem, as opposed to a destructive personality.

When abouts will the under 18s start this year? Hopefully they'll do a better job this year and televise a few more games.

Reckon Marco Paparone is rising in draft calculations.

193cm, 76kg forward. Has had quite a few BOG´s for Easts in the WAFL colts.

Another 12 marks, 23 poss, 2 goals 3 behinds.

Others may be interested to see that Stephen Coniglio´s younger brother is starting to dominate for Swans. 31 possessions today. Not eligible until next year. Like Stephen though, has to make the decision between cricket and footy!

Paparone has been one who has stepped up this year. I wrote about him a couple of weeks ago, mentioned that he has gone to another level since his games as an underaged player last year. Always good to see another KPP step up. I would also imagine he'd be more than 76kg, because that was his weight about 18 months ago.

Also, the AIS players all made their returns this weekend. Shannon Taylor and Josh Simpson had good games in the Colts.

I'm looking forward to seeing some footage of Laine Wilkins' game though - he had 15 disposals, all kicks. That's to go with his 13 kicks (from 14 disposals) from his only game prior to the Europe trip. Pretty much exactly what I wanted to see from him through the midfield.

Shannon Taylor - 177cm, Claremont

Unlike a Garlett or Simpson, Taylor is more of a half forward than midfielder. But his stints in the midfield have been just that - stints. At the moment he is lacking the size to be a real option in the midfield, so that should be his focus this season. He has pretty much everything else you could possibly want - elite speed, agility, skills and clean hands. He'll be an interesting one to judge this year, as talent or commitment wont be the reason if he drops.
The big trip
For Shannon Taylor, who already has two children, it's convincing clubs he will cope if moved away from home.
The big trip

Get Taylor if they're boys.

Good to see Jesse Hogan is still growing.

As is Marco Paparone at 197cm now. Must be rocketing up in calculations the way he has been playing.

His East Freo teammates Alex Howson (197cm key forward who has been kicking a fair few goals) and Harry Marsh (193cm mid) are interesting prospects also.

Few options there for us to pick up a good KPP depending on how the kids go for the rest of the year.

Pleased to see some of the names in the second intake of the state academy - Howson and Paparone in particular. Not entirely sure about some of the measurements though.

Im very pleased to see Lowrie make the squad, i hope he gets some game time in the Champs so he can be judged better.
