Purple Reign and The Restump independently I think.
I agree that the rest of his game was fairly good.
His Cat 10 tackle looked crude and careless both live and on TV. Not your typical tackle that slips high.
Just trying to keep Jackson proximal to the play for as many minutes as possible. Probably not the best or most likely solution to the two A grade ruckman dilemma, likely to arise in a few weeks.
Potential to develop into an A grader in the next few seasons. The feature of his game that impressed me most was clean handling of ground balls in traffic. Seemed able to assess the ball drop from aerial contests and gather without fumbling.
On a couple of the Freo Podcasts it was noted that Hughes has a penchant for Cat10 errors early in 1st Quarters.
The solution - start Hughes on interchange until the initial heat goes out of the game. Has merit?
I thought our defence held up well considering the ease with which North were able to run the ball through the middle of the ground in the first half. Clark, Pearce and Ryan all excellent. Walker made a really good return and Draper did enough to show he belongs.
Must also give some praise to...
We’ll know a bit more tomorrow when the injury list comes out. I expect both to be TBA.
I note that Freddy only had 65% Tog. Being managed? Hopefully just precautionary.
I think Worner has looked pretty good in the pre season. No other realistic options anyway.
Always feel a sense of depression when Hughes and Banners appear on the team sheet.
A bit unfair I know as both always give it their best shot.
I would assume that we will have a solid hit out at a training session tomorrow. The judgement maybe that Walker, Sharp and Wagner are all in contention for the Brisbane game and need some competitive match practice.
Knobel, Williams,Etc will definitely be starting at Peel.
I was quite impressed with Worner last Friday. Gave a lot of run out of defence.
Hughes on the other hand has never ever given any. Gives it everything in the contest though.
