Southern FL - 2011/12

Richmond play East Coast in a trial in 2 weeks, East Coast play Dosa the week after.

Source at East Coast tells me they are getting roughly 35 each night at training. A few new players as well. A few from Lauderdale last year. Reckons they will go pretty well this year. Arent we all March champions this time of year??

I'm hearing Kingston are gone. Norfolk and Claremont will be the standouts after Claremont have spent the bank.

The next 3-4 could be quite even.

Is a premiership within reach for EastCB, greatkick?

Hearing that Kingborough, Huonville and Cygnet wont have a colts team this year, also struggling to get numbers for reserves as well. So this means that there will be no colts team south of Hobart, not good for the new Kingborough team in the future with no young players coming through.

Not this year. Who knows in the next few years. They may get stronger due to being based at Lauderdale.

They stitched up Richmond last week. Reckon they could be a top 4 team this year.

The Jungle drums keep on beating,.....

Hearing that Huonville are struggling to get numbers with only 12 on the track, Cygnet have a few more, Kingborough were to play a practise game tonight against Hobart but had to pull out due to lack of numbers

Its going to be long year for the teams down South

Is that confirmed or are you speculating? We could be looking at a couple of clubs who won't be fielding reserves side. Not a good look for the competition.

Only positive from a team dropping out is a roster change. a 16 game season is a bloody joke.

confirmed!

Kingborough are gone. Ten team comp now.

Is a meeting Tuesday night, but all but done.

This is what happens when your committee don't listen or take advise from there playing group, was always going to happen. If you look at the current clearance pages there are 36 players from Kingborough wanting a new home a bloody disgrace!!! All for a team in the TSL well that side will get smashed each week. No under 18 side from Kingborough in ANY competition!!! Some one should be accountable but they are to busy sucking up to AFL TAS.

A BLOODY FARCE!!!!!!

no good at all ! aren't all 3 coaches and president from last year involved at "Tiger FC" or whatever they are called ?

reading the article have to say Steve Old is the greatest Spin merchant since Warnie....

"Old said the Tigers had been reduced to between 15-25 SFL players at training, with others from last year’s team having been picked off by rival clubs."

Cant be a shock to Steve Old as "Whowants2know" stated the Board were advised by the 2013 playing group this would happen?

So who is everyone tipping for the flag? New Norfolk? Claremont? Thoughts...

New Norfolk 1st

Daylight 2nd

Claremont

Seriously New Norfolk will be stronger again this year, Claremont the only serious challenger and 3rd could be anybody, but only making up the numbers

Picks this week guys?

Claremont New Norfolk
Hobart Lindisfarne
Cygnet Sorell
Huonville Dodges Ferry
Brighton East Coast

Obviously Norfolk & Claremont will be hard to stop this season. Although I heard Gilmour had signed at Dodges for $6000 to play half a season and you wouldn't spend that money unless you thought you were a chance for the flag.

With a bit of help from the men in green so I am told. But a wins a win. Good work by Hobart, they looked gone a few months ago.

Hope Youngy's knee is alright

Good to see Hobart beat them when it mattered!

Agree, good for the club and all the people involved getting it up and running from were they were a few months back.

They were terrible in that practise match, but after all it was a practise match.

The bottom 6 look a fair way from the top 4 teams. Looks like more one sided games this weekend!

You may as well say the bottom 8 because no one is close to Claremont or New Norfolk at the minute. Whoever you have as 3rd/4th are beatable. Only 3 games in.

Fair point. I just think 3rd and 4th are well above the bottom 6 as well. I dont think the bottom 6 can beat East Coast or Lindisfarne.
