Carlisle & Black both look like they're on their way to becoming 10+ year players at their club.

Juries out on Griffiths IMO, although I'd have more faith in him that Vickery right now.

Coaches votes:

Essendon vs Carlton
9 Hocking (Ess)
6 Chapman (Ess)
6 Merrett (Ess)
5 Goddard (Ess)
2 Stanton (Ess)
1 Heppell (Ess)
1 Hooker (Ess)

Was voted 5th best on the EFC board

So 5th best according to Essendon fans and not in the top 7 according to coaches. Think you may have been exaggerating with your BOG call. He got a bit of the ball as the #1 ruck but his impact was pretty limited.

I wasn't calling him BOG. I had Merrett BOG, Carlisle 5th/6th.

A bit of a stretch seeing as Carlisle averages more marks, kicks, handballs and marks inside 50 than Griffiths
Essendon chips it around a lot - didn't Heppell have something like 17 uncontested marks one day? Griff is averaging nearly twice as many contested marks per game as Carlisle, despite Essendon fans claiming a page or two back that he wasn't in the same league in terms of marking ability.

As for Carlisle's (8th at best, according to the coaches) best on ground, did you see his worst on ground against St Kilda? Pathetic. Griff has played some pathetic games too, it happens with young talls. They rarely progress in linear fashion. Carlisle took a quantum leap last year while Griff went backwards. This year the opposite is occurring.

You seriously think Griffith's has been better than Carlisle this year? Griffith's has been getting the third best defender every week yet still struggles to put together anything resembling a 4 quarter performance.

Griffiths has been good at worst in every game. Last year he was stinking it up in the VFL, so his improvement has been quantum. Carlisle has dropped away significantly since about R15 last year. Griffiths is better in the ruck and up forward. Carlisle is a defender and has looked lost since moving.

You are judging the two players on completely different standards if you think one has been good and the other bad.

And in what universe was Griffiths good against collingwood? He was touched up by Nick Maxwell. Griffiths has improved but he ain't close to Carlisle

You have picked his one bad game out of five. It was wet and slippery and not conducive for a big man. Outside of that he has been a contested marking machine anytime he goes near it. Absolutely froffing at how well this kid is going at the moment!

Carslile is a defender currently being played out of position and looks lost this year. Black has been a great pickup for North although maybe a little down this year but extremely dangerous forward. Everyones a winner!

I was responding to a poster's comment that said Griffiths as been good at worst in every game he's played and you make it sound like Griffith's is dominating and Carlisle can't get a kick which is just completely untrue.

Carlisle could be dropped this week if Bombers comments are anything to go by... Had a massive sook last weekend.

Black has been poor this year too other than a great game against that fraud Grundy.

Chance to get dropped this week.

Maxwell had the better of him but Griff was very good in the ruck, hence overall good. Definitely his worst game of the season, but nowhere near as bad as Carlisle's woeful performance on the weekend.

Griffiths is on par with Carlisle with Black a country mile away

What is your reasoning behind this? Black's been the best forward of the three this year and isn't even playing well.

Black best forward this year?

Black has kicked 6, Griffiths 4.

Griffiths is equal first in the league for contested marks.

He was the =3rd worst ranked player on the field that night that didn't start as a sub.

How you could say he was anything but bad is beyond me... you didn't need to be at the game to know that he had a stinker.
