Augie March - Most overrated local band of all time

I can read, I just can't believe what I'm reading. Such a ludicrous claim IMO.

No it's not. Name better bands than Augie March. I can't wait to read your list which includes lame pieces of s**t bands such as AC/DC, INXS, etc. No one come close to them. And the fact is, they have 20 better songs than One Crowded Hour. They may not have the influence or radio play, but in pure music terms, no Australian band come close to them, they are that much better than anything this country has produced it's ridiculous.

Always love people trying to talk in 'facts' about music. It's ridiculously subjective.

And the fact is, they have 20 better songs than One Crowded Hour.

That's funny, because One Crowded Hour is essentially their only song that I'd go back to and doesn't bore me to tears.

Check out The Good Gardener on their first album. Literate with tension and release dynamics.

Definitely Shepp. Ardmona was over in Mooroopna.

This. And Augie March are a bunch of pretentious campaigners who are one of the most boring bands I've ever seen and are that far up their own arses it's a joke.
Actually I've gigged with all of these guys and they're great blokes who love their footy, so no, you're actually wrong. You may not like their music, or their stage presence, but off the stage, you are so far off the mark, I'm thinking Earl Spalding at his worst far off the mark.

Well I saw them open for Bernard Fanning, the singer was having a whinge because everyone was not paying attention to his greatness, he forgot they were a support band I guess. Then they played "One Crowded Hour" and everyone cheered and he said "this is bullshit man!" as if we should have been cheering every song! *******s, and I wouldn't care to spend any time with them off the stage by the way.

I saw Glenn Richards, with a backing band, at Pyramid Rock a few years ago. To be fair, they were playing at about 6pm, which is always a dead spot, but the guy was an a-hole. He kept whinging about having a to play in a tent (only two stages at Pyramid, one happened to be undercover), and the pretty small crowd that was there at the start was even smaller by the end. It didn't help that the music was boring. He had the worst attitude I've ever experienced from a musician, and it's put me off listening to Augie March since.

What are your thoughts on Hunters & Collectors?

You've obviously never heard of The Church, in pure music terms they are head and shoulders above most Australian bands including Augie March.

The Church can pull crowds to their shows in almost any corner of the globe and are highly regarded amongst music critics worldwide, Augie March would barely even be on the radar outside of Australia.

I'd like to see Augie March pull off a song this good but I think I'd be waiting a while, ie. forever.

The Church have plenty more awesome songs where that came from too.

Augie March has twenty songs better than One Crowded Hour. I wish they didn't write it. Because then, all the w***ers wearing their Nina & Pasadena shirts, drinking their Becks, who finally stopped talking during the shows and then rush forward when they played it at the end, would * off and go back to the Casino.

Haha, our opinions obviously differ but that post genuinely made me laugh. good stuff.

I know the Church very well.

Not well enough as you wouldn't make the idiotic claim that Augie March are better than them in pure music terms.

I hope you're just trolling as it's completely laughable.

The Church even has a song that sums up your opinion.

Ok some like Augie March some don't, that's fine. No one's opinion is wrong... Unless we're talking about shitty mainstream autotune acts, then we can start talking about "wrong opinions";)

Nice summary of people I also hate.

Pity Augie March are insufferably banal, pre-Mumford-but-just-as-fake dross.

I just don't get it when someone gets all riled up when someone says they like a certain act over another.

Music would be pretty boring if it wasn't subjective.

So what you're trying to say is you don't get it when someone gets riled up over a band, yet think it's boring when they don't?
