Pretty sure Player Managers Have a big part to play, in when to or not to SIGN,
Yep. The impression I've got is that Levi's manager has only just started looking at negotiating a deal. The club can't do much when this is the case. Of course Levi's manager wouldn't have been doing the right thing by Levi if he had rushed in & signed a deal earlier this season when Levi's position in the senior 22 was not secure.

HARKER is not wrong in saying signing Levi later than sooner is going to end up costing us more however you can't sign a deal when the manager is not even coming to the table.

Put ur money on Levi winning Coleman next year, he will have fixed his kicking by then. Maybe not too much !!!
77 goals, 198 behinds

He is a stunning mark, his curve is upward and he's still young for KPP so a lot to like and be excited by

How much is he worth is a tricky one though

Your paying on promise rather than actuals right now

I like signing up promising youth though , gives you some comfort in the future

A bird in the hand ...

Now I've been wanting to post this for about a week or two, largely because the big man cops a bit of flak on the forums and even in the media.

Ok so facts he is a 24 year old 1.98m 100kg or so forward. Which let's face it is our best option as a forward outside of Hendo with Waite in the twilight.

Stats wise he has basically doubled his mark averages this year in comparison to his game in the two prior years. He is serviceable in the ruck and provides good tackling pressure for his size. One thing that isn't a stat is the amount of contests he actually gets to and can impact just by crashing in, which is great to see. It is widely known he has the best tank for a big man at the club.

Now his kicking, yes it is atrocious on goal. But so was Hawkins and so is Cloaks. Remember how much flak Hawkins copped at the same age?

Considering his age and improvement so far this year I'm really impressed. Considering our lack of forwards we should really get behind Levi and hope he goes to the next level in a year or two.

:)
Strong mark-100% correct. Big tank-looks like a good call. Just reward for his hard work. Forward?-no. He is not a natural forward. No opposition is going to allow him to wander around the forward line with an opponent. Every time the ball is kicked to him they will have three up against him with one player making sure he is off balance or tugging at his jumper. His kicking is abominable, but he is not alone there on that front. Casboult's strength will be his marking around the ground and playing the good old kick behind play and pushing into the forward line. Hawkins and Cloke have been playing forwards since their junior days and they understand the position and what they have to do. Levi will be a much better option around the ground where he can bring players into the game.

The key to this will be our delivery in to the forward line, if he has 2 or 3 on him then it means Hendo, Waite or Boyd ;) will get loose and our mids need to get the footy to these guys.

Geelong did it really well against hawthorn early last year when Tom Hawkins was double and triple teamed so they kept going to Podsiadly who had a day out.

Three defenders?

"Sure you brought enough guys?"

Casboult should play closer to goal like he did against the Hawks. Levi can still ragdoll defenders to mark or bring it to ground.

Cloke, Roughead and Nick Riewoldt have huge engines. They push up the ground and dart back to take marks inside fifty. Hardest part is finding a tall with the workrate and endurance to play this role. Think it was the Saints game where Levi took a mark deep in the square after starting the play up the ground.

Casboult was a forward in the under 18s. Levi kicked booting 41.14 in the under 18s. Bigger threat and more confident in his approach if he has the ball within 40 metres. Fair part of his problems are mental and backing himself to kick straight.

To be more specific, his kicking for goal is abominable. In general kicking he has a Fevola like boot on - he can really roost a ball !!

His kicking for goal has improved...

A bigger concern is that when Waite plays, he tends to go quiet. Against GWS 5 possessions, against NM 4 possessions.

Further tinkering of the game plan is needed to ensure Levi is always in the contest - even when Henderson and Waite are the focal points.

Agree 100%. I don't think too many coaches would turn down a forwardline of Waite, Casboult and Hendo.
